Dr.

Wu/Hialeah Gardens High School/2011-12 Classroom Expectations, General Classroom Rules of Conduct
Expectations 1. You are always expected to do high quality work, completed and on time. A rubric will be reviewed with you and your work will be graded accordingly. Keep all work in your engineering notebook for future reference. a. Learning does not occur when cheating and will not be tolerated. Both parties involved will receive a double zero, not just the student cheating (this includes computer files as well). b. Incomplete work will be penalized in addition to grading the amount of work completed. c. Late work (if not previously approved) will not be accepted. Due dates will be given for each assignment and pending an excused absence, work will be collected and graded as is. 2. Regular attendance is imperative. Keep in mind that even though makeup work is allowed for excused absences only, there will be assignments that cannot be made up and a zero will be recorded for that assignment. You are responsible for requesting makeup work. 3. You are expected to be on time every day. If you are tardy, you must have a pass, otherwise it will be marked unexcused. Excessive tardies will result in parental contact and a conduct grade cut. 4. Be prepared for class. You are responsible for your own classroom materials. I will give you a materials list. 5. Computer lab time is NOT free time. Concerted work on assignments is required and is considered part of your class grade. If repeated computer violations are made, you will not be allowed on the computers and parental contact will be made, and if necessary, administration action will be taken. 6. Many class projects will require working on a team. Those team members that do not do their required share of work, their grade will be penalized. However, keep in mind there is also a team grade that will also be affected. Learning to work as a team is a critical skill for all projects. Classroom Rules of Conduct 1. No talking amongst yourselves during teacher instruction. Raise your hand to ask/answer a question (i.e. no calling out). Stay on task during class work. Do not ask to use restroom during lecture/class discussions. 2. Ask permission to leave your assigned seat. Always sit in your assigned seat. There will also be assigned computer seating. 3. Use appropriate language at all times. Be respectful of others and property (those belonging to the student, teacher and school). 4. Put away all electronic devices such as cell phones, headphones, games, etc. Please be aware that use of these items could lead to confiscation. When and whether it is returned is up to teacher discretion. 5. Eating, drinking, and chewing gum is not permitted. Water bottles should be put away, not sitting on table. 6. There will be a separate set of safety rules that will be discussed. Failure to cooperate or comply will result in loss of equipment use privileges and possible exclusion from class. In addition to these rules, the Student Code of Conduct must be adhered to at all times. I have received and read the Class Expectations and Rules of Conduct. My instructor has also reviewed the classroom procedures with me. As a student, I understand what is expected of me in the classroom. I will do my best to follow the classroom procedures and rules and strive for academic excellence. As a parent, I understand what is expected of my child to do well in this course. Following these expectations and rules will ensure we all will have a successful and productive school year! ____________________ Student Signature __________ Date _____________________________ Parent Signature _____________________ Parent Phone #
