RotationsCheatSheet 1

The document describes clockwise and counterclockwise rotations and their effects on x and y coordinates. It explains that rotating 90 degrees clockwise is the same as rotating 270 degrees counterclockwise, and both involve switching the x and y values and making the original x value negative. Rotating 180 degrees in either direction makes both x and y values negative. Rotating 270 degrees clockwise is the same as 90 degrees counterclockwise, and both switch the x and y values and make the original y value negative.

Rotations

Clockwise – moves in the direction a clock goes

Counterclockwise – moves in the opposite direction a clock goes

Rotating 90 Degrees Clockwise/270 Degrees

Counterclockwise
- (y, -x)
- x- and y-values switch
- Original x value takes opposite sign

Rotating 180 Degrees Clockwise/180 Degrees

Counterclockwise
- (-x, -y)
- x- and y-values take opposite signs

Rotating 270 Degrees Clockwise/90 Degrees

Counterclockwise
- (-y, x)
- x- and y-values switch
- Original y value takes opposite sign
