Course Title Mathematics for Grade 10 Learners
Course Credit (hrs./wk & hrs./sem) 5 hours/week
Course Description The course is an extensive lecture and activities in Mathematics-Grade 10. The modules in this course are distributed in each
quarter. For the first quarter lesson, it covers Module 1(Sequences and Series) and Module 2 (Polynomials and Polynomial
Function), Module 3 (Circles) and Module 4 (Plane Coordinate Geometry) are the coverage for the second quarter lesson. For the
third quarter lesson, it covers Module 5(Plane Coordinate Geometry) and Module 6(Counting techniques and Probability), Module
7(Probability of Compound Events) and Module 8(Measures of Position) are the coverage for the quarter lesson.
Course Objectives After completing this course, the students are able to:
1. Demonstrate competency in every module in Mathematics-10 in terms of its informational content and terminology;
2. Define and illustrate a sequence and a series;
3. Recognize the types of Sequences: Arithmetic, Geometric, Harmonic and Fibonacci sequence and find the nth term in every
type of sequence;
4. Perform an operations of polynomials;
5. Divide polynomials using long division and synthetic division;
6. Illustrate , graph and solve problems involving polynomial functions;
7. Solve problems involving chords, arcs, central angles, inscribed angles, tangents and secants of circles;
8. Solve problems involving distance formula and circle on the coordinate plane;
9. Solve problems involving permutations and combinations;
10. Illustrate and find probabilities of mutually exclusive events, independent and dependent events;
11. Illustrate quartiles; ungrouped data;
12. Solve problem involving deciles and percentiles
13. Solve problems involving measures of position: Ungrouped and Grouped data; and
14. Apply their knowledge in every module in real-life through day-to-day activities.
