Title
The disappearing egg
Aim:
A short statement of what you are trying to find out and why you are trying to find this out.
Criterion Bi
We are trying to find out how the Egg will react in different substances.
Hypothesis:
What do you think will happen and why?
Criterion Bii
I hypothesise the egg in the vinegar will become transparent, and the egg will submerge.
Variables
Criterion Biii
Controlled variable: Uncontrolled variable:
Independent variable: Dependent variable: List all of the things you have to

keep them controlled?
Vinegar and water Egg changing , Vinegar and water temperature, condition
appearance , condition of the eggs
Materials
Criterion Biv
.2 eggs
.2 plastic cups
.whole vinegar bottle
.200 water
.black marker
.gloves
.lab coat
Method
Criterion Biv
1. Label each cup (plastic cup) with the substance you will add and everyone in your group
2.Add one egg to each plastic cup
3.Pour the whole container of vinegar into one plastic cup
4.Add the same amount of water to the other cup
5.After a 1-2 days rub both egg shells on each other
6.Record your observations after the experience
Safety
What should you be careful with when doing this experiment to keep yourself and others safe?
Criterion Biv
secure loose clothing like your school clothing, tie your hair back if you have long hair , do not touch any materials that
might have been spilt on the floor, wear a lab coat , keep gloves on, keep our hand to our selves, Do not eat or drink
anything from the experiment and do not touch your hands on your face.
Results
This is what you find out. It should contain careful observations and measurements. Data should be presented in a table, or a graph if possible. Labelled
diagrams and graphs could be included. A table should include title, labelled columns (independent and dependent variables)
Criterion Ci
The egg was in a soft and bouncy condition , it had a thin translucent layer that protecting it, some
parts of the shell or all parts of the shell were off the egg making it translucent/ transparent though I
could see the egg yolk. The egg in vinegar smelt like vinegar although the vinegar didn’t smell like
vinegar and the water egg was completely fine and that egg remained same.
The egg is translucent: The normal egg; The skin or shell of the egg
Evaluation
Reflect on the investigation.
What did you control well?
What was difficult to control?
How could the method be improved or extended to get more reliable results or increase your understanding of the issue?
Criterion Civ,v
If we let the egg sit for longer it may have gotten more soft or bouncy. If we changed the amount of
water or the amount of vinegar
Conclusion
The conclusion must be supported by the evidence presented in the results. It should be a simply stated version of the trend or relationships observed
during the investigation. Was your hypothesis correct?
Is the hypothesis supported or challenged by the results collected? or, Is the question answered?
Criterion Ciii
My hypothesis was that the egg in the vinegar will become transparent, and the egg will submerge. I was
almost right , part of the egg which was the shell did become transparent/translucent although the yolk and the
insides were not translucent or transparent . Besides the look, the vinegar smelled different, it did not smell like
vinegar.
