OPERATION INSTRUCTION

FOR

160kN OPEN BACK INCLINABLE PRESS

Notice item of press
1.Please peruse the operation instruction in detail before operating press
2.Please take priority to choose both-hand function so as to protect operator's safe.When you
use foot pedal function , the press should be equipped with photoelectric protector.
3.The distance between both-hand buttons and working area should be not less than 640mm ,
otherwise it may cause accident.
4.It is no permission putting hand into slideblock work area when the press works. It is
necessary to snatch atworkpiece with standard manual tool.
5.The press security should confirm to the security and technical terms standard of forging
machinery (GB17120-1997) ,the security and technical requirement standard of mechanical
press (JB3350-1993).It doesn't happen accident on normal operation .However,when the electric
elements is aged , damaged or machine parts has tired defect , it will happen continous stroke on
single stroke mode .So,operator's body can't enter into the ram working area so as not to cause
accident...
6.Plants should establish security rule according to the universal security rule of punching
works(GB/T8176-1997) & ths security regulations of cold punching (GB13887-92). Workers
should obey the security rules.
7.Plants should train the new hand for three months to six months
8.Operator should check whether everything is ready or not .Then you can start the press.
9.Before starting the press,idle the machine for one to three minutes.It's no permission to
operate the press on trouble condition.
10.Operating the machine is a simple and dry work which is easy to bring whiny mood.So
worker should work continuously less than eight hours.
11.When setting die set or check the machine,it is necessary to hang a caution plate which is
striking.
12.Regular inspection of the press should be done by professional checker.It's no permission
starting the press when repairing or cleaning the machine. It's no permission starting the presswhen
guard is removed.
13.Operator should pay attention to the working state of the press.Once you find any
abnorminal noise or vibrication,please stop and check it.

Ⅰ.Principle and application of press
The press adopts crank and pitman mechanism to work. Its action diagram
please see Fig.2 .
The rigid construction compels the slideblock move down and up . The number
of ram stroke per minute and pressure curve of slideblock are constant.
The press is suitable for cutting , punching ,blanking , bending and shallow
drawing ,etc .But it isn't suitable for squeezing forming .
The press frame can be inclined to let finished products or scrapes slide
downfrom die set . When it is equipped with automatic feeder , the press can be
operated semi-automatically .
The nominal force of press occurs in the opsition 2mm ahead of the bottom
dead point . The machine should be operated according to the pressure curve .
Working pressure should be within the curve range .

Ⅲ.Structure feature and adjusting method of press


The press is composed of frame , clutch , slideblock , brake and operating
mechanism.Please see Fig. 1 overall view.
1. Frame (Fig. 3)
The frame and worktable is founded as a body . Slideblock reciprocates within
the guideways of frame . The clearance between guideways and slideblock is

adjusted by square head bolts,then tighten locking nuts.The frame is fixed onto left
and right shelf which is set an adjustable equipment. Turn the screw and you can
make the frame incline 35°.
The press adopts rigid ejector . Adjust the bolt position in frame so as not to
make pusher contact groove underside of slideblock and cause accident when
pushing action occurs at the top dead point .
2. Clutch (See Fig. 4)
The press adopts single rotary key type rigid clutch .
In the flywheel hole ,the rolling key is connected with crankshaft and middle
sleeve is fixed with flywheel .There is a copper sleeve on both sides of flywheel
hole . When crankshaft stop working , flywheel rotates freely on inner sleeve .Key
tail of rolling key reveals between frame and flywheel. There are three grooves in
the middle sleeve to inset rolling key .
When the press do not work , operating cam turns back the key tail to make
rolling key leave the groove of middle sleeve , then flywheel idlesand crankshaft stop
rotating .
When cam rotate an angle and leave the key tail , rolling key rotates an angle
and inset the the groove of middle sleeve under the extension spring actions , then
flywheel drives crankshaft rotate and the press start working.
3. Slideblock (See Fig. 5)
Pitman and ball-head screw change the rotary movement into reciprocation .
Ball-head screw contacts with sphere seat . There set a cutout type protector under
the sphere seat . When the press is overloaded , the cutout is damaged and this
prevent other parts from being damaged . you should replace a new protector before
work.
Bisecting type bushes of pitman is set pads which can adjust the clearance
between shaft and bushes.
When you adjust die set height , loosen the locking bolt of pitman , then wrench
the ball-head screw by spanner to get requiring die set height.
4. Braker(See Fig. 6)
The press adopts eccentric type braker to make crankshaft stop at top dead
pointwhen clutch come away .

You can adjust the braking band tension by adjusting starlike nut . The adjusting
degree is to make crankshaft stop not ahead the top dead point and run reposefully.
Note not to flyblow oil on braking band and braking wheel .
5. Operation mechanism (See Fig.7)
Operation mechanism controls the combination and breakaway of clutch . You
can adjust to "single stroke" or "continuous stroke" mode.
On continuous stroke mode , the pulling bar connects with the pin of rack , at
this time bending bar is not available . If you press the foot pedal , rack will be pulled
down and the press works continuously.When you loosen the foot pedal, the rack and
cam reset , then clutch come away and the press stop working.
On single stroke , the pulling bar connects with the pin of bending bar . press
down foot pedal, the pulling bar draw down the bending bar and make rack move
down, then small gear and cam rotates an angle and come away key tail.This make
the clutch engage . When you loosen foot pedal, the rack and bending bar reset by
the action of extension spring , the cam also resets and turns back the key tail and
make the clutch come away. If you don't loosen the foot pedal ,the press still works
on single stroke mode. Because the cam loop which is set on the crankshaft make the
bending bar move backwards and come away the top part of rack when crankshaft
turns around ,then the rack reset by the spring to make clutch come away . At this
time ,you should loosen the foot pedal to make the bending bar reset . Then the press
can work on single stroke .

Ⅳ. Electric equipment of the press


The press adopts three phase asynchronous motor . The electric box is set on the
left side of frame with four rubber absorber . Main circuit line is controlled by air
switch which has thermodynamic and electromagnetic disconnector to avoid
overloading and short circuit of motor.
Switch on power supply to make motor start . switch off the air switch , the
motor stop work.
Spotlight is connect with the low voltage circuit transformed by transformer.
There set fuses on both sides of circuit to protect them .

Ⅴ. Lubrication system
The press adopts dispersive lubricating mode .(Fig. 9)
There set lubricating spots on left and right bearing bushes , bush of pitman ,
left and right guideways , clutch sleeves of flywheel . There also set lubricating hole
on rotary shaft of foot pedal, sleeve of brake . Users should fill in oil or grease on
lubricating sites before start the press. You should also pay attension to lubrication
situation during work . Once you find lack of oil , stop the press and fill in oil to
prevent machine parts from being damaging . You should especially notice the

lubrication situation of crankshaft bushesclutch and pitman bush .
Sphere seat and ball-head should be filled up oil frequently.
Adjusting mechanism of inclinable device should be filled up grease before
work.

Ⅵ. Installation
User should check whether the number of accessories and wearing parts is
conformity with the number as shown in packing list after unpacking the press .
Meanwhile place the press in dry circumstance for three or four days to evaporate
motor and electrical equipment . If necessany , check whether insulation is
reliability , Lay foundation according to Fig.10 . After it is well gulated , install press
onto foundation steady . Level work plate of press with a plumb leveller . The
permissible error of the levelness should not exceed 0.2mm per 1000mm .
After leveling the press . mount foundation bolts and grout square holes with
concrete(cement to sand is one to three), The press would not be started until
concrete coagulates completely .
After the press has been installed , clean the anticorrosive slush on the press
surface with kerosene . Notice not to damage the lacquered surface . Meanwhile
clean oil holes , oil pipeline and oil leveller . check whether earth line is properly
connected .
Metallic object and abrasive cloth should not be used during clean the press .

Ⅶ. Adjustment and start of the press


Before adjusting the press , operator should grasp the structure and feature of it

in detail, then adjust and test it according to the following order .
1. Install die set and make clutch engage , then wrench the flywheel by wrench
bar to make slideblock stop at bottom dead point,adjust the die set position . It's no
permission starting the motor at this time .
2. Adjust the position of striking bar so that the pulling action occurs after
bottom dead point . However, you should notice that pusher can't contact the bottom
groove of slideblock to avoid disturbing the movement of slideblockand causing
accident when crankshaft stop at top dead point and pusher is pulled down.
3. Adjust the pulling bar position to obtain single or continuous stroke
according to work requirements.
4. Wrench the flywheel by hand for one or two stroke ,then start the motor .
Note: The rotary direction should be the same as the rotary remark of cover to avoid
damaging clutch and operation mechanism.

Ⅷ. Maintenance and safety introduction


1. You should start the motor only after the clutch come away.
2. It's no permission to start the press when the cover is removed.
3. Pay attention not to putting your foot onto the foot pedal ususlly to avoid
causing accident.
4. When working on shallow drawing ,the material must be cleaned and be
lubricated.
5. It's no permission to punch two piece of plate on the same time .
6. Check the lubrication situation and fill up oil on time .
7. If you find slideblock drop down freely , abnominal strike and noise ,poor
quality finished product , please stop the press and check it.
8. When operator leave , he should cut off the power supply .

Ⅸ. Precision inspection
The press has been checked according to the standard of open back press
precision before despatch . It should be checked after repairing . Otherwise it will
influence the quality of workpiece .
The precision standard and permissible error please see test certificate .
