STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
INTRODUCTION:
My name is Muhammad Hunaid Khan. I am from Islamabad, Pakistan. I started my early education
from my native city and completed my matriculation in 2011. After that I completed my FSC in
2013. Further, I enrolled for a bachelor's in Journalism. During the study period, I joined HBL
(Habib Bank Limited) as a Relationship Manager on December 1st, 2016. But soon I left that
position on March 1st, 2018. After that I started my career as a broadcast news analyst at SAMAA
news channel dated on March 1st, 2022.
In the meantime, I learned through my professional experience that the effective media system
depends on sophisticated media and communications which is crucial in shaping people's
perceptions and beliefs. A profound understanding of media and communication theory is
essential in today's complex media environment. By pursuing a Master's degree in Media and
Communications, I hope to gain a comprehensive understanding of the role of media in society
and the ways in which it can be leveraged for positive change. Most of the universities are offering
media courses in Pakistan, but unfortunately all are under restriction. Therefore, I decided to
pursue graduate education in media studies at a university in the United Kingdom after realizing
how much I enjoyed the field.
Why the United Kingdom?

The reason for studying in the UK is that universities in The United Kingdom offer a vast number
of choices of subjects as well as specialization on the basis of my deep research. All the
universities of the UK are top ranked throughout the world. More importantly, the UK is a
countrywhich provides its citizens with the rights of freedom and of their own choice. Students at
universities in the United Kingdom come from all over the world and speak a variety of languages.
This exposure to multiple languages and cultures not only makes a person more linguistically
versatile but also broadens their worldview as they discuss their experiences with one another.
Why University of Lincoln?

I searched UK universities for Media and communications. Many universities are offering different
media and communication courses. I reviewed their modules, financing, and city location. I
considered three other universities, but I found University of Lincoln among the UK's top ranked
universities. Staff and academics are experts and passionate about teaching.
Why did I choose a Media and Communications program?
My academic background in communication studies and my professional experience in the media
industry have equipped me with a solid foundation in media theory and practical skills. However, I
feel that a Master's degree in Media and Communications will provide me with the opportunity to
delve deeper into my areas of interest and to hone my skills in media production and analysis.
In particular, I am attracted to the University of Lincoln Media and Communication program
because of its reputation. The program's emphasis on practical experience and hands-on learning
fits with my learning preferences and objectives. Moreover, this program is providing
comprehensive training in media practices, techniques and legal regulations, as well as analytical
and critical thinking skills, which are essential for success in this fast-paced industry. Furthermore,
this program is the outcome of a special partnership between LU and BBC, one of the Uk's most
reputable broadcasters. The main goal of this module is to give students the chance to acquire the
analytical and practical skills necessary for effectively placing PR materials in the media within the
framework of a planned campaign. It aims to familiarize students with the range of media outlets
available, to help them choose the best one for their efforts as PR practitioners, and to help them
build the right connections that will result in successful publication in accordance with the
organizations' stated PR objectives.
Future Plans:
After completing this course, I would return to my home country and would be able to secure
high ranked managerial job in well-known multinational companies and media channels. This
education would help me to exhibit my expertise and skills in the field of Media. Those skills will
help me to enhance my competencies at the workplace.
