SOP Nazim
Introduction
Greetings, I am Muhamad Nazim Ali born in Lahore, Pakistan on 6 th October ,1995. 27-year-old with a
middle-class background but a progressive mentality. Started my education from Tarbela dam birthplace
of all of my Environmental dreams and goals. Although born in Lahore spent ten years outside Lahore,
seven years in Tarbela dam and Three years in Mangla Dam and these exposures surely shaped me
different from other urban people.
Educational Background
Completed my Secondary Education from F.G Public School Shami road Lahore Cantt affiliated with
Federal board of intermediate and secondary education in year 2011. Enrolled in Unique College Wahdat
Road Lahore and passed my HSSC in year 2013. Last two chapters of chemistry book and old love for
environment helped me in getting admission in BS hons Environmental Sciences in University of Punjab,
Lahore in year 2013. It is one of the oldest alma maters in south Asian and is termed as mother of
universities in territorial domain of Pakistan. Admission in University of Punjab was not less than any
personal milestone as I was the representative of third generation pursuing education from this
prestigious institution. Graduated in year 2017, had options to start my career or to opt master’s in
environmental sciences if admission secured. Although, scores of graduates flocked to university of
Punjab for masters and seats were limited I was able to secure spot in top forty and hence completed my
postgraduation in 2019.
Career
Brimming with Zeal I entered my professional life and started working with a renowned textile mill that
imported garments, Azgard Nine Limited. The factory was a vertical Mill i.e., it housed Spinning, Denim
and Garments under the same area which is a rare thing in textile division in Pakistan. For me it was an
opportunity to learn in every division under the same roof without switching jobs for a couple of years to
make my base strong. I worked as Management Trainee Officer in department HSE and COMPLAINCE
from 25 sept, 2019 to 28 sept 2021. After resigning from job, I decided to take a break as I was planning
to appear in CSS exams. Central Superior Services are most competitive examinations of Pakistan, with
their passing percentage being around 2 percent. I gave 2022 attempt and couldn’t crack it. Couldn’t
Appear in 2023 attempt because of being unwell. The most important thing was that I was a better
person and well informed about my surroundings. The quintessence of all the rigorous study and
academic rituals was that I was several notch knowledgeable person than my previous version which is
the most important thing.
While preparing for 2023 attempt I was also exploring study abroad options and UK holds a special place
in my heart because of brits being a successful and developed nation, this ignited curiosity that how do
things work in a country like this. Pakistani vlogger Jazib Samuel around 5 months ago covered Keele
university as his friend studied there. The countryside and the campus caught my attention. The calm
and the peace and the greenery reminded me of the time spent away from bustling life. If this was the
appetizer the Ranking of university in UK and among the world was the main course. The supportive
environment with research facilities that are packed with opportunities was a no brainer for me. Keele
being village with Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and stoke being in its vicinity was just cherry on
the top. National Park in the range of 20 miles was an opportunity not to be left. All in All the University
ranking and repute, research backing for postgraduates, campus life, quality of education and its post-
study practical application in field really upped the ante.
I Chose MSc Environmental Sustainability and green technology as my postgraduate course, since my
first masters was not advanced, I needed an advanced degree to pursue to challenge my comfort zone in
order to grow. Second reason being there is no degree regarding environmental sustainability and green
technologies in Pakistan that is why I had to opt it in order to be pioneer of this field in my country. To be
ahead of my time and to be able to differentiate from other postgraduate students or professionals in my
country. Additionally, this isn’t just being about ahead it also involves rationale to be able to provide the
expertise in my country that other people aren’t able to. Lastly, the flexibility in course modules was a
breath of fresh air. Especially the freedom being given to study was unusual that I have seen in my
country. Dimensions of env politics PIR- 40106 AND Clean and GREEN technologies EC-40097 really
caught my eye.
Why UK?
Education, knowledge, learning is something I take pride in. I want to be a better individual and team
player. This can only be achieved through exposure. The amalgamation of exposure and cultural diversity
in a foreign country as diverse as UK will broaden my horizons. The techniques employed and the
methodology used in Pakistan is old schooled and it needs to be replenished, recycled and revamped.
For me UK was my first and last choice. This can be backed by multifarious reasons. UK has an
immaculate education system. Additionally, the environment is safe and supporting. The academia and
industrial nexus are strong which means practical knowledge. Lastly geography, an island with diverse
countries and opportunities on its every side of shore to explore during my stay there.
Post-Study Plans:
After successfully completing my studies, I will return to my country as I have some unfinished business
to deal with, such as appearing and qualifying CSS exam. In order to showcase my newly acquired skills
bureaucratic platform via CSS is the most lucrative place to be. As the implementation nexus is under
bureaucracy. Private job prospects are also high after acquiring above mentioned degree from foreign
reputed university. I am confident that not only I will gain from being taught in keele but I also hope to
be an ambassador of keele university in my country.
I am very much hopeful and looking forward to hear from you very soon in this regard.
Best REGARDS,`
