Instructor Introduction
Online courses tend to be impersonable by nature. Give a personable introduction
of yourself; credentials and/or something personal, share a passion or a little insight
into who you are. This is a great place to do it, as is a welcome video within your
course. Feel free to include a photo.

Instructor introduction here.

Course Objectives
Students need to understand the objectives of the course, what it is that THEY will
be able to accomplish by the lesson. List them below. They can be listed as formal
objective statement or in conversational English. State the Terminal Objective
(umbrella objective over the lesson) first and follow up with Enabling Objectives (the
Terminal Objective broken down). Terminal Objective should be simple and to the
point, no “ands”.

Detail objectives here.

Required Items
What will the students need for this course? Text books, materials, equipment?

Detail required items here.

Schedule of Topics
Ensure you change this section any time the course changes. Edit course length to
your topic, does not have to be 4 weeks. Name either Week 1 or Module 1 (or what
works for your subject).

Deadlines
What is the course start and end dates? Is each assignment/discussion a hard or soft
deadline? Hard deadlines are required by specific dates. Soft deadlines can be
flexible, also state if soft deadlines assignments are required for course completion.

Detail deadlines here.

Grading
If details of grading are necessary, detail below. It can be a passing grade, a rubric,
or final expectations (could be project based). Find what is right for your course.

If you have a grading schema, include all course assignments and the assignment
weight. This should include details about each assignment and assignment type, the
number of major assignments and course activities which correspond to the course
learning outcomes and grading policy, how much value they carry, and how those
values are calculated for the final grade. Rubric information and how tests/quizzes
are secured (if applicable) should be included.

Detail grading here.

Institutional Guidelines
Does your institution require any specifics? APA formatting? Active participation? Below are a
few examples, you can use if you wish.

Active participation is critical. We are all learning together and you will get out of the discussions
what you put into them.

Assume the best intentions of your classmates. If in doubt please contact your course facilitator or
course instructor about specific concerns.

Posts should be written in your own words. If you include a quote or reference, when possible, also
provide a citation (book, URL, etc).

Use evidence instead of personal attacks when you respond to a post with which you disagree. You
can choose to support good posts and ideas if you click on the green plus button to upvote a post.
