The Drikung Kagyu Chakrasamvara Five Deities: Utter Illumination of the Innermost
Essence

(An Extremely Concise Sadhana)

[Refuge and Bodhicitta]

I take refuge in the Guru, the Yidam, and the Ḍākinīs.

I take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Saṅgha.
I take refuge in the Lama, the Yidam, and the Ḍākinīs.
I take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Saṅgha.
I take refuge in the Lama, the Yidam, and the Ḍākinīs.
I take refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Saṅgha.

By virtue of this practice of Chakrasamvara,

May I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all beings.

[Generation Stage]

In an instant, I arise as blue Heruka with one face and two arms,
Holding a vajra and a bell crossed at my heart.
My consort Vajravārāhī is red with one face and two arms,
Holding a curved knife and a skull cup.
We are embracing in union with bliss and emptiness.
At our crown is white Buddha Vajradhara,
At our throat is red Amitāyus,
At our heart is blue Akṣobhya,
At our navel is yellow Ratnasambhava,
And at our secret place is green Amoghasiddhi.

[Self-Blessing]

From Vajradhara’s forehead, white OM syllables radiate light

And invite the wisdom beings from their natural abode.
They dissolve into me and become inseparable with me.
OM AH HŪṂ VAJRA GURU PADMA SIDDHI HŪṂ

From Amitāyus’ throat, red AH syllables radiate light

And invite the life-force vases from their natural abode.
They dissolve into me and become inseparable with me.
OM AMARANI JIVANTIYE SVAHA

From Akṣobhya’s heart, blue HŪṂ syllables radiate light

And invite the vajra armor from their natural abode.
They dissolve into me and become inseparable with me.
OM VAJRA ĀH HŪṂ PHAṬ

From Ratnasambhava’s navel, yellow TRAṂ syllables radiate light

And invite the precious jewels from their natural abode.
They dissolve into me and become inseparable with me.
OM RATNA TRAṂ AH HŪṂ PHAṬ

From Amoghasiddhi’s secret place, green RĪ syllables radiate light

And invite the activity ḍākinīs from their natural abode.
They dissolve into me and become inseparable with me.
OM VAJRA RĪ AH HŪṂ PHAṬ

[Recitation]

I recite the mantra of Heruka while meditating on bliss and emptiness.

OM SHRI VAJRA HE HE RU KA HŪṂ HŪṂ PHAṬ SVAHA

[Completion Stage]

At my heart is a blue HŪṂ syllable surrounded by the mantra garland.

The HŪṂ syllable and the mantra garland melt into light
And dissolve into the indestructible red drop at my central channel.
The drop melts into light and dissolves into the sphere of emptiness.

[Dedication]

By this virtue, may I quickly attain the state of Heruka

And lead all beings to that state without exception.
