Please summarize the learning you got from the first video session of CSD.
Summary Session 1 :
As a student, you are involved in a lot of things, like academics, culturals, etc. The student
phase of life is to develop skills in oneself. Every stage of this life has its own set of skills
that helps you grow. In school, you may learn how to communicate. As a college student,
the basic set of skills to put in a CV are:
1. Academic skills: These include the skills you develop during college. What you
learned in classes, books, and from your course. You should be familiar with the
fundamentals and basics of your major very well. And should know the A-Z of the
whole learning you have got from the course.
2. Computer skills: This means being good at computers. Like using MS Office, being
good at typing, and using Excel efficiently. This simply means that you know how to
use a computer but at an advanced or intermediate level, and not like a grade-
schooler.
3. Documentation and reporting skills: This includes knowing how to arrange, organize,
and keep track of the many documents generated in the corporations daily. Reporting
means you should know how to report to someone, and being dumbfounded like
what should I write.
4. Communication skills: One should be good at communicating. It includes both verbal
and non-verbal communication. Communication is knowing how to talk, listen, and
make others understand you. This should not be confused with just knowing better
English.
5. Analytical and intelligence skills: Big data is generated in the world at every stage.
Gaining insights from that data, knowing how to work on that data, and being able to
tell what you got from the data, recommend or suggest ideas or solutions from that
data is a skill that makes you stand out. Other than data analytics, there are many
aspects that need you to observe, research, and interpret a subject.
6. Teamwork and leadership skills: Being a good and healthy team member, and a
leader who takes initiative is included in this skill set. People management is also a
trait of working in a team.
These skills make you a good fit for a job in the corporate world. Corporations look at you
as assets or resources, from which they can gain as they hire you. The hiring process
depends on these skills that you have developed during your lifetime as a student. Other
than these, there are a set of skills that helps you survive in the corporate. People learn
them through real-time experience only. It can’t be learned by doing some course. These
skills include a street-smart mind, or being good at politics, or you maybe are good at
cooking. One key survival tool or skill in corporate is knowing your people. You should
know who will help you grow, and who are the people pulling you down. This should also
not be related to your personal life, but your professional life. Whose mentorship will help
you get promoted, and who is keeping you limited to your boundaries only.

Summary Session 2 :
Make your goals very clear as to what you want to do. Don’t make your interests scattered
here and there, depending on whatever comes to your table, you would be accepting it. To
get accepted anywhere, be it a job, clearing CAT, GATE, or any examination, one needs to
be prepared well in advance. The preparation should at least be of 9 months.
Another point is passion. Passion is what you love to do. Make it your passion if you can
add 2 other Ps to it, i.e., Purpose and Practicality.
The next point is what success means to you. Define it in one clear time at a particular point
in time. You should be very much clear about the definition of success to you. That should
be the engine of your train on the road to success. This should be your priority. Other things
should follow the train as the coaches, and shouldn’t matter much or more than the success
to you.

Summary Session 3 :
The road to improve or develop your skills depends on two things. First is what to include in
your life and second is what to exclude. One should focus on the negativities in their life as
the first step to success.
1. Don’t be involved in any political discussions or arguments. It doesn’t mean to not
follow the news. You should just not be political in your views.
2. Try to remove negative people from your life. This includes the people that only you
care about, and they don’t care about your existence. Stop stalking them. The second
set of people to remove are the people you don’t care about, but they are interested in
your life.
3. Start bargaining on your time and energy. Save up the energy and time for things that
would benefit you.
The main thing to remember is to focus on the engine and the first coach the most, that
means success to you. The other coaches are not so much important.

Summary Session 4 :
The steps to be prepared for a job include academic knowledge, skill set, and sensitivity
analysis. Sensitivity is the reaction of a thing to a change in one or more factors. Sensitivity
analysis is of three types:
1. Theoretical (to analyze): This measures how much x changes with respect to a
change in yn (factors that influence it). One can calculate the sensitivity of each factor
on x, by keeping other factors constant and changing only one factor.
2. Practical (to understand): This includes jotting down the factors that really matter to
you in real practical life.
3. Personal (to hide): These are the factors to which you are highly sensitive. If these
happen, you react a lot. One should hide these sensitivities from others. If others get
to know about it, they may try to mould your decisions targeting your personal
sensitivities.
