INTRODUCTION

Practicum is one of the requirements of the course in agriculture that

students must apply their theoretical knowledge learned. It is a training that

enhances the application of the skills of the students the field. Practicum students

are given the privilege to learn the actual operations of the different skills

assigned in the field by using available tools and equipment. A practicum allows

students to apply what they've learned in class to a real environment. This is a

great way to gain professional skills related to the field and to get hands-on

experience. Practicums can be tied to certain courses and are often required for

certification.

Practicum students were given the chance to apply the theories learned

from a classroom instruction and acquired new skills. It is also an experiential

learning, that is, learning by doing. The practicum students were exposed both in

the Animal Science and Crop Science projects of the campus.

Moreover, this practicum develops camaraderie between group mates and

co-practicum students and develops teamwork, understanding and love.

OBJECTIVES

The practicum aims to:

1. Enable the students to apply and appreciate the relevance of classroom

learning to the actual work setting;

2. Provide students with workplace experience/exposure in their respective

fields;
3. Enhance the institutes networks and linkage vis-a-vis career placement for its

graduates by establishing and maintaining harmonious relationships with the

institutions;

4. Provide opportunities for future professionals relative to the labor market;

5. Continuously improve the OJT/practicum program of the institute by gaining

inputs from the partner institution; and

6. Demonstrate the spirit of zeal by translating the acquired knowledge into

practice in assisting individuals in the workplace.

Time and Place of the Practicum

The practicum students were required to comply the 240 hours in-campus

practicum. The first 120 hours were spent in the crop science project areas and

then the next 120 hours were spent in the animal science project areas inside the

CPSC Catarman Campus. The remaining days were spent for manuscript

preparation and for oral defense.

attend the orientation given by the practicum instructor. The instructor discussed

the things that must be done and the daily time schedule. The purpose and the

importance of the training was clearly emphasized and the expected “do’s and

directed to record the common operations and activities from the different

assigned areas of Camiguin Polytechnic State College-Catarman Campus

projects (Animal Science and Crop Science). There were ninety-nine (99) in-

campus practicum students, divided into two (2) sections, grouped into 6 (six)
