1. Introduction
Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIMT) is the eleventh IIM and was instituted
on 4th January 2011. IIMT is functioning from its sprawling state-of-the-art campus spread
over 175 acres of land. "Knowledge is endless" is a motto that has strongly governed IIM
Tiruchirappalli. IIMT holds strong values which it imparts to its students, primary amongst
which is an unceasing desire to learn. It also firmly believes that the foundation of value
creation lies in the path of continuous learning.
The Executive Education& Consulting office offers both short duration and long duration
programmes designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the working executives. These
programmes could be either open programmes where executives from various organizations
attend specific programmes designed by the faculty of IIM Tiruchirappalli or the EEC might
design a customized programme for the company, after understanding the specific needs of the
organization. The EEC also provides Business Consulting services to organizations. IIM
Tiruchirappalli prides in its capabilities and contemporary knowledge to provide holistic
insights in tackling business challenges.
In order to accommodate majority of the population who can’t take away time to physically
attend the programmes, Executive Education & Consulting office launched eLearning Long
Duration programs through two empaneled vendors. We have launched eleven long-duration e-
Learning programs during the financial year 2020-21, which expanded the presence of IIMT
across the country and also some parts of the globe. Programmes are offered during weekends.
Each programme will have modules which includes campus as well as majority of online
sessions.
In order to ensure that executives gain the most out of the program, each module is designed
and delivered using pedagogies like case studies, problem solving exercises, videos, lectures
from eminent professionals and so on. Long-duration e-Learning programs will be usually for
171 classroom contact hours or 174 classroom contact hours.
For details of the specific programs please refer to the program brochure.

2. Academic Performance Evaluation System
Academic evaluation in this program will be done at the level of each course. Each course will
have evaluation components (Quizzes, Assignments, Case Presentations, Project Reports and
presentations, end of course assessment etc.). The number of evaluation components based on
hours of courses are as follows:
The exact list of evaluation components for each course will be announced by the instructor
prior to the commencement of teaching of their respective course. The end of course
assessment may contain multiple choice, true or false, fill up the blanks, short / long answer,
case-based questions etc.
A 13-point discrete scale will be adopted for evaluating a student in individual courses.
A+ A A- B+ B B- C+ C C- D+ D D- U
4.33 4 3.67 3.33 3 2.67 2.33 2 1.67 1.33 1 0.67 0
Total number of students receiving A+, A, A- grades will not be more than 30% of class size.
While relative grading is used in the award of “A”, “B” and “C” grades, instructor may award
“D” and “U” grades (that result in deficit credit points) when the performance of a student is
far lower on absolute terms compared to the course objectives and minimum expected
performance.
The institute uses the concept of credit to define the weightage of a course in the curriculum.
One credit is equivalent to 10 classroom contact hours. The credit for each course will be
defined based on the number of classroom contact hours for that course.
CGPA, as at the end of the programme, is the weighted average of the grade points obtained in
all the courses. CGPA will be calculated up to two decimal points.
An Example of CGPA calculation is given below:
CGPA = Cumulative points secured in all courses / Cumulative earned credits = 14.10/4.2
CGPA = 3.36
3. Attendance Rules
The Institute insists on regular and prompt attendance in classes. This refers to attending all
sessions in timely manner. The institute in its academic spirit strongly values the behaviour of
being on time. The institute expects 100% attendance for all courses. To take care of
exigencies including medical emergencies etc. each participant is required to attend a minimum
of 70% of classes in each course that is offered as a part of this program. Attendance will be
calculated for each course and it will be roundedto the nearest integer.
Students having attendance less than 70% but more than 50% will be subjected to one grade drop
penalty. Students with attendance shortage in a course (below 50%) will not be allowed to
appear for the end of the course assessment and the student will necessarily be awarded a “U”
grade for that course.
4. Make-up Assessment
In case a student fails to attend the end of course assessment because of unavoidable medical or
professional emergencies, she/he can request for a make-up assessment within a period of 7
Days from the exam date. The decision to allow make-up assessments and what constitutes an
allowable contingency solely rests with the Programme Directors. The student will not be
charged any additional fee for taking the make-up assessment.

request from a student will be considered a maximum of two subjects for the entire duration of

• He/she has not have received more than one “U” grade OR two “D+ / D / D-” grades
across all the courses offered.

including academic integrity.
Those students who have completed the program will be awarded the certificate. They will also

eligible for the certification along with that subsequent batch. However, any student will not be
given more than one chance to repeat the coursework.
The fixed fee for repeating any one particular course, irrespective of classroom contact hours,
is Rs.17,500.
However, they have to make payment for all outstanding installments of the program fee at the
prevailing prices as on the date they re-join the program. After re-joining, there will be no
