B. Profile of the program or course:

i. Title of the Program or course: Orientation on the Operational Guidelines of
the School Based Feeding Program SY 2023-2024
ii. Objectives:
1. To further enhance the implementation of the SBFP through an integrated
approach; to link the SBFP to school gardening and nutrition education.
2. Fine Tuning the implementation strategies through understanding the needs, gaps,
and good practices that may enable efficient and sustainable implementation.
3. Enhancing the impact of school nutrition interventions through the promotion and
use of an integrated approach.
iii. Rationale:
School-Based feeding program are considered to be a sound investment in
education. There is evidence that SBFP increase enrollment, cognition and
educational achievement and appeared to work best when complimented with other
school health programs such as deworming and micronutrients fortification or supple
mentation, Gulayan sa Paaralan, Wash in Schools (WINS). School Heads understand
the importance of these programs to ensure that children are ready to learn and thrive
in a healthy school environment that allows them to develop health promoting habits
and behaviors for a healthier future generation.
The implementation of SBFP showcased the improvement of the nutritional
status of Severely Wasted (SW) and Wasted (W) learners implementation of 120
feeding days for NFP and 43 days for milk component to utilize the allotted budget.
This orientation is for SBFP coordinators and School Heads in order to
ensure effectiveness & common understanding of the program. The proposed date for
this activity is on the fourth week of August 2023 in 2 batches.
iv. Program or Course Description:

This project will benefit the SBFP Coordinators, School Heads, and the
beneficiaries of DepEd Butuan City Division. The proposed date for this orientation
is on August 23 & 24, 2023 in 2 batches.
v. Professional Development Priorities
The focus of the orientation is to provide basic knowledge and skills to
promote safer and healthier school environment.
