This assessment task is designed to test your achievement of learning from the last couple of
lectures.
Assignment 1

1. Pacific Jeans BD Ltd. is considering two mutually exclusive projects. Project


‘Integrated System’ involves with installation of new ERP system which will cost tk.
6, 20,000 and generate cash inflows of tk. 85,000 per year for the next 3 years. Project
VIP replaces the existing reporting system which will cost tk. 65,000 and generate cash
inflows of tk. 5,600 per year for the next 6 years. Using an 7.25% cost of capital,
calculate each project’s NPV, and make a recommendation based on your findings.
2. Prepare a mind mapping chart for the project “Develop a student-friendly transport
system for Chittagong city”.

Assignment 2
1. M/S Shimee Enterprise is currently considering a 15-year project which provides
annual cash inflows of tk. 20,000 and requires an initial investment of tk. 1,50,000.
Shimee accepts the projects earning more than the firm’s cost of capital which is 10%.
Should Shimee accept the project? Take the decision based on the IRR of this project.
2. McDonald’s, one of the most famous QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) chain in the
world, yet to arrive in Bangladesh. This king of QSR is planning to launch a new outlet
in Bangladesh. Make a marketing plan for Mac.

1. The sales of a daily soap during a fourteen-year period have been as follows:

a. Find the least squares regression line for the given data.
b. Assume that the forecast for the period one is 4,200. If a = 0.3, derive the forecasts
for the period 2 to 14 using the exponential smoothing method.
c. For the given data if n=3, develop forecasts for the periods 4 to 14 using the moving
average method.
d. The following information is available on quantity demanded and income level:
Q1= 500, Q2= 750. I1= 10,000 and I2= 12000. What is the income elasticity of
demand?
e. The following information is available on price and quantity for a certain product.
P1= 50, P2= 75. Q1= 1,00,000 and Q2= 95,000. What is the price elasticity of
demand?
f. A new product has a potential market size of 2,00,000. There is an older product
that is similar to the new product. If p= 0.030 and q=0.075, describe the industry
sales of this older product.
What will be the estimates of sales in years 1, 2, and 3 for the new product,
according to the Bass diffusion model?
2. You have newly joined to a company as accounts officer. Your supervisor assigned you
to be a in charge of your company’s annual cricket tournament. It is expected that 100
to 150 employees will participate in this tournament. You are also responsible for
promotional activities of this event. The budget is Tk. 2,00,000 and the approximate
date for the tournament is settled on 1st Sunday after next 8 weeks. Prepare a WBS and
RACI matrix for the tournament.
