Rhythmic Gymnastics

LESSON PLAN

PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRADE 7

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Discuss the nature and background of rhythmic gymnastics.
2. Recognize the different light apparatus used in rhythmic gymnastics.
3. Identify the fundamental skills in rhythmic gymnastics.
4. Perform a dance movement using the rhythmic gymnastics skills.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Introduction to Individual Sports: Rhythmic Gymnastics
Reference: Physical Education Quarter I, Module 4 (pages. 2-7)
Materials: Pentel Pen/Visuals Aids/Laptop/Pictures/Rhythmic Gymnastics
Apparatus.

III. Procedure

A. Preparation
Prayer
Greetings
Checking of Attendance
B. Introduction
 The teacher will facilitate a short review about the previous lesson.
C. Motivation
 “GUESS THE JUMBLED LETTERS”
 The class will group into 2 groups. Each group will have used the
board and chalk to answer the jumbled word.
 The teacher will show a jumbled letter with related picture and the
students will be given 10 seconds to solved the jumbled word. After 5
seconds the part of the picture will be revealed as a clue to guess the
jumbled letters.
 The group who got the highest score will be the winner.
D. Lesson Proper
 The teacher will discuss the topic about Introduction to Individual
Sports: Rhythmic Gymnastics.
 Rhythmic Gymnastics, a sport in which individuals or groups of 5
manipulate one or two pieces of apparatus. It combines elements of
ballet, gymnastics, dance and apparatus manipulation.
 Apparatus used in rhythmic gymnastics are; Ball, Hoop, Rope, Clubs,
Ribbon and Wand.
 Rhythmic Gymnastics Skills are the locomotor and the non-locomotor
movements.
 Fundamentals Skills of the rhythmic gymnastics:
1. Ball, routines includes throwing, bouncing or rolling
2. Hoop, routines includes rotation around the hand or body, rolling,
swings, circles, throws and passes through and over the hoop.
3. Rope, routines include leaps, skipping
4. Clubs, thrown from alternate hands
5. Ribbon, routine includes flicks, circles, snakes and spirals.

E. Generalization
 Rhythmic Gymnastics is a routine and exercise accompanied with
music.
 Apparatus used in rhythmic gymnastics are the Ball, hoop, clubs,
wand, rope, and ribbon.
 Qualities of the rhythmic gymnastics includes; balance, flexibility,
coordination and strength.
 Rhythmic gymnastics uses locomotor and non-locomotor skills.

F. Application
 “Tiktok Dance Challenge”
 The teacher will group the class into 2 groups. Each group will create
a simple dance presentation using the locomotor and non-locomotor
skills/movements.
Group 1: will used the Locomotor Skills
Group 2: will used the Non-Locomotor Skills

IV. Evaluation
“Loop the word”
Directions: Find and encircle the word inside the box related to Rhythmic
Gymnastics. Refer to the statement below for your answer.

V. Assignment
Locomotor movements: movement through space involving a change of location;
moving from one point to another; a moving base involving a progression of
relocation of the body in space. Non-Locomotor: movement occurring above a
stationary base; movement of the body in one place around its own axis.
