Since the 18th century, astrology has been acknowledged as pseudoscience, claiming to detect information about human affairs and
earthly occurrences by analyzing the apparent locations of celestial objects. 
Astrology is the study of the motions of the planets, the sun, the moon, and stars, with the idea that these motions have an effect on the
lives of humans.

Is Astrology a Scientific Discipline? 

It belongs more to metaphysics, the study of that which transcends the physical. It is comparable to other disciplines based on ancient
notions of energy patterns, such as Feng Shui, acupuncture, and yoga. At advanced levels, astrology is a mastery of its specific science and
intuitive skills. 
Nature and importance 
Astrology is a way to predict what will happen in the sublunar universe based on the idea that the planets, stars, and other celestial
bodies, especially when looked at in their random arrangements or configurations (called constellations), either cause or show changes in
the universe.

The importance of astrological portents 

The premise behind ancient Mesopotamian collections of celestial omens is most closely aligned with the notion that the stars express
divine intent. Their principal function was to alert the royal court of approaching success or failure. These may take the form of

The following terms are used in astrology: 
Air 

The air of or pertaining to the trio of zodiac signs: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. 
Ascendant, or Ascendent

The Ascendant, or Ascendent, is a point on the ecliptic that rises on the eastern horizon at a certain time and varies as the earth spins on
its axis; the zodiac sign contains this point. 
Aspect

An aspect is any of a number of distinct angular distances between two planets or a planet and the Ascendant or Midheaven along the
ecliptic, measured from the earth in degrees. 
Taurus

Virgo, and Capricorn are the zodiac signs associated with the Earth.
Horoscope

A horoscope is a prediction of a person's future based on how the stars were aligned at the time of their birth and how they are aligned
now.
Square 

A 90-degree angle between two planets, etc.  

Star sign 

Any of the 12 equal regions, each 30° broad, into which the zodiac may be subdivided, each named after one of the constellations of the
zodiac. In astrology, it is believed that a person's personality and life outlook may be determined by the sign the sun was in at the time of
his or her birth. 
The Planets' Relative 

In astrology, each celestial body in our solar system plays a role. 

When examining your own personal astrology (more on that in a minute), each planet or luminary (the sun and moon) provides insight
into distinct aspects of your personality and existence. Your sun sign, for instance, reflects your sense of self and identity.

Astrology is at first puzzling since it requires a distinct kind of knowledge. Every birth chart consists of three components: planet, sign, and
house.
