RTN 380AX Packing List Installation Conditions

No. Item Description

Restrictions on the installation environment
1. The RTN 380AX cannot be installed on a light pole or utility pole.
2. The RTN 380AX with only a 0.3 m antenna can be installed on a guyed tower, and the antenna must be
1 RTN 380AX module installed no higher than 1/2 of the tower height.
3. Even if the requirements for link reliability can be met and the equipment installation environment allows
equipment to run properly in any weather conditions (the sway angle and twist angle of towers and poles meet
requirements), use rooftop towers, thin mast towers, and common self-supporting towers (non-high towers)
with caution based on the local actual situations.
Restrictions on the installation on a rooftop upright pole
2 Auxiliary material package
When installing RTN 380AX on a rooftop upright pole, ensure that:
1. The diameters of antennas are no more than 0.6 m.
2. A mono-rooftop mast is supported by three stress support bars. The angle between the stress support bars is
90ºor 120º. This ensures that the mast can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the
wind.
3. Only one microwave antenna is installed on one pole.
3 7.6 mm-wide outdoor binding strap 4. A pole is supported by two side support bars to ensure that the pole does not sway or twist in the wind.
5. A pole is not higher than 6 m.
6. An antenna is not installed on the top of a pole. An antenna should be installed at a lower position that is close
to the support point. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.
7. If the diameter of an antenna is 0.3 m, the antenna is used only at the last hop.
8. If the diameter of an antenna is 0.6 m, stress support bars are required to secure the pole for installing the
3.6 mm-wide outdoor binding strap antenna and the antenna must be installed close to the point of strength of the stress support bars on the pole.
4 9. Installation height: A 0.6 m antenna is installed no higher than 1/2 of the pole height, and a 0.3 m antenna is
installed no higher than 2/3 of the pole height.
Restrictions on the installation on a monopole
When installing RTN 380AX on a monopole, ensure that:
1. The diameters of antennas are no more than 0.6 m.
5 Waterproof labels for outdoor cables 2. A pole is installed securely. It can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the wind.
3. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.
4. Installation height: A 0.6 m antenna is installed no higher than 1/2 of the monopole height, and a 0.3 m antenna
is installed no higher than 2/3 of the monopole height.
Restrictions on the installation on a self-supporting tower (high tower in the central equipment
room)
6 Engineering labels for indoor cables When installing RTN 380AX on a self-supporting tower, ensure that:
1. The diameters of antennas are no more than 0.6 m.
2. If the diameter of an antenna is 0.3 m, the antenna is installed lower than 2/3 of the tower height to limit the
antenna shaking angle within 0.45°. For example, if a tower is 60 m high, an antenna should be installed lower
than 40 m.
3. If the diameter of an antenna is 0.6 m, the antenna is installed no higher than 1/2 of the tower height.
4. The tower is verified before installation that it is not overloaded and will be free of overloading after installation.
Waterproof tape
7 5. A pole is installed securely. It can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the wind.
6. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.
Restrictions on the installation on the wall, chimney, or concrete tower
When installing RTN 380AX on the wall, chimney, or concrete tower, ensure that:
1. The diameters of antennas are no more than 0.6 m.
2. Use the wall-mounting mode. A pole can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the wind.
8 3. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.
PG connector, which RTN 380AX (P&E+DC option) required
Other restrictions
Do not install RTN 380AX and antennas of wireless equipment on the same pole.

Safety Precautions

Thunderstorms Corrosion

Do not work with electrical current in elevated or exposed locations during a thunderstorm . Anti-corrosion measures are required if the RTN 380AX is installed in an area prone to corrosion. Contact your
Huawei representative office for details. A location is corrosion-prone if it is:

 within 3.7 km of the ocean or a salt water lake

Extreme weather conditions
 within 3 km of a heavy pollution source such as a smelting factory or coal mine
The RTN 380AX is usually installed outdoors. If weather conditions are extreme during an installation, personnel  within 2 km of a medium pollution source such as a chemical, rubber, or electroplating plant
should follow local guidelines and regulations to safeguard personal health and safety.
 within 1 km of a light pollution source such as a food/leather processing plant or heating boilers

High places
Moving and hoisting heavy objects
The RTN 380AX is usually installed in an elevated location, such as on a tower or on the roof of a building. Adhere
the following guidelines for installations in elevated locations: To move or hoist heavy objects, use appropriate equipment and adhere to the following guidelines:
 Installation personnel must have the proper training and qualifications, and meet health requirements.  All personnel should wear helmets and protective clothes, gloves, and shoes.
 Installation personnel should wear helmets and safety belts and should work in pairs or teams.  Move heavy objects along a flat, clear path.
 Do not work in high places during thunderstorms, blizzards, gales, or other extreme weather conditions. When  Do not lift heavy objects by hand. Use appropriate equipment instead.
working outdoors, installation personnel should wear clothes and gloves appropriate to weather conditions, and
anti-slip footwear.  Before hoisting a heavy object, clear the area to avoid hurting anyone nearby.

 Hoisting tools should be tested before use.  Use hoisting tools properly. To avoid damaging pulleys or slings, do not exceed the load allowance.

 All installation personnel and visitors onsite must wear helmets.

Precautions for Local Maintenance

When the RTN 380AX is installed on a self-supporting tower, maintenance personnel cannot performance off-tower maintenance through WLAN, because the RTN 380AX is installed at a high position. You can use the following methods to solve this
issue:
① If an NE receives/transmits services through the P&E port, use an outdoor network cable to connect the NE's GE/EXT ② If an NE receives/transmits services through the GE optical port, no extra outdoor network cable is required. During the

Precautions for Local Maintenance

 When an NE is directly supplied with DC power and receives/transmits services through the GE/10GE port, you are advised to connect the GE/NMS port and a signal surge protector using an outdoor network cable to enable indoor local
maintenance. This way, a PC can be connected to the output end of the signal surge protector for access to and maintenance of the NE using the Web LCT. See Figure 3.

to be 1.4N·m.
3. Before installing the RTN 380AX, remove the protective cover and film on the antenna port. Otherwise, the signal transmission will be affected.
4. Different methods can be used to change the polarization direction of antennas. If the method provided in this document is not suitable for the type of antenna you have, use the method provided in the installation manual delivered with your antennas.
5. The polarization direction of antennas is vertical by default. If the planned polarization direction is horizontal, change the polarization direction to horizontal.
6. If an antenna with a diameter of 0.2 m, 0.3 m or 0.6 m is used in a direct mount scenario, you may install the RTN 380AX on the antenna and then hoist them both into position on the tower.
7. Before installing a cable, bind the cable section that links the cable connector to the pole. This will protect the cable connector from damage. Be sure that the length of cable running from the binding point to the RTN 380AX is sufficient to attach the cable connector to the
