Experiment 5 Magnetic Field Report Sample

The physics lab report describes an experiment measuring the magnetic field of paired coils in a Helmholtz arrangement. The experiment varied the current through the coils from 0.5 to 2 amps and measured the resulting magnetic field from -15 to 15 cm. Tables of data show the measured magnetic field increased with both higher current and closer distance to the coils. The experiment was repeated with the coils arranged in series and with a spacing of 2 times the radius (2R) between coils.

6. Discussion
7. Conclusion
- The magnetic field produced by a single coil carrying electricity is a function
of distance z, which reaches local maximum at z=0. Furthermore, as z→±∞,
B→0.
- Regarding the case where electricity flows through 2 coils connected in
series, the generated magnetic field reaches local minimum at z=0 and local
maximum at z=±a/2. It is more visible as the parameter a increases. Similarly,
as z→±∞, B→0.
