Target vocabulary: dress, shirt, T-shirt, trousers, skirt, boots, socks, shoes, trainers,
hat, watch

Materials: - Pictures or flashcards of different clothing items (e.g., shirt,

dress, hat, shoes, etc.)
- Worksheets (optional)

PROCEDURE:

1. Warm-up (10 minutes):

- Begin by eliciting from the students the types of clothing they wear every day.

- Write their answers on the board or flip chart, creating a list of clothing vocabulary.

- Engage the students in a discussion about clothing, fashion choices, and their favorite
outfits.

2. Vocabulary Introduction (15 minutes):

- Show the pictures or flashcards of different clothing items. Introduce each item to the
class and elicit the correct vocabulary. For example, hold up a picture of a shirt and ask,
"What's this?"

- Write the vocabulary words on the board or flip chart and review pronunciation and
spelling.

- Practice pronunciation as a class, repeating the words chorally.

- Ask students to look at the clothes in the classbook. Listen, point and repeat.

- Read the story, point and ask questions, e.g. Which clothes are Rosy’s / Billy’s / Dad’s?
Where does Mum put Rosy’s / Billy’s clothes?

3. Vocabulary Practice (15 minutes):

- Have students work in pairs or small groups. Give each pair/group a set of pictures or
flashcards of clothing items.

- Instruct students to take turns showing a card to their partner and asking, "What's
this?" Their partner should respond with the correct vocabulary word.

- Encourage students to switch roles and continue until all the cards have been practiced.

4. Whole Class Activity: Clothing Charades (10 minutes):

- Explain to the students that they will be playing a game of charades to reinforce
vocabulary.

- Write clothing vocabulary words on small slips of paper and place them in a container.

- Divide the class into two teams. One member from each team will come forward and pick
a word from the container without showing it to anyone.

- The chosen student will silently act out or mime the clothing item while their team
members try to guess the word.

- The team that correctly guesses the word earns a point. Continue until all the words have
been used or time is up.

5. Wrap-up and Extension (5 minutes):

- Recap the vocabulary words learned in the lesson.

- Assign a short writing task for students to describe their favorite clothing item or
outfit and explain why they like it.

NOTES:

Make sure to provide plenty of opportunities for students to practice using the vocabulary
words, both through spoken conversations and written exercises. Keep the lesson engaging
and interactive by incorporating group activities and games.
