Volume of Solids of Revolution

1. There are three methods for finding the volume of solids of revolution: the disk method, washer method, and shell method. 2. The disk method revolves the area of the region about the x- or y-axis and integrates the function with respect to dx or dy. 3. The shell method revolves the region about the y-axis and integrates 2πx times the distance from the axis of revolution.

APPLICATIONS OF DEFINITE

INTEGRAL
SOLID OF REVOLUTION
A solid of revolution is a solid (volume) obtained by
revolving a region (or area) in a plane about a line.
VOLUME OF SOLIDS OF REVOLUTION
There are three methods for finding the volume bounded by
curves in rectangular coordinates:

1. By using disk method;

2. By using washer method; and
3. By using shell method
