POWER TWEAKS

A quick note to laptop users

Tweaks below will need to be done twice with acpi enabled and acpi disabled (device
manager)
Laptop users will have some extra settings, good luck

Note
In 1809 you can unlock the windows “ultimate performance” power plan
I recommend using bitsum highest performance as you will get much better results

Turn off fastboot

This option “on” causes many issues and will sometimes not show in control panel, turn it
off.
In regedit
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Power
HiberbootEnabled=0

Park control
Unpark your CPU with park control
https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/
Get park control
Select - bitsum highest performance
Select - make active
This will unpark your cores

Below should be
Parking ac - disabled - 100%
Parking dc - disabled - 100%
Freq scaling ac - disabled - 100%
Freq scaling dc - disabled - 100%

Apply

Bitsum dynamic boost enabled - no

Show power plan change notifications - no
Show park settings in windows power options - yes

Ok

You don't need this program running in the background disable it

Right click park control icon
Settings
Start at user logon - off

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\

Select - bitsum highest performance

Delete all other power plans in powershell

powercfg /list
powercfg -delete Power Scheme GUID

Disable power throttling in gpedit.msc

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Power Management\Power
Throttling Setting
Turn off power throttling - enabled
Or
Disable power throttling in regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerThrottling
PowerThrottlingOff=1

Unlock disable processor idle state option

In powershell
powercfg -attributes SUB_PROCESSOR 5d76a2ca-e8c0-402f-a133-2158492d58ad -
ATTRIB_HIDE

Power Settings Explorer

Unlock extra power settings
https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-power-plan-settings-explorer-utility.416058/

There are a number of extra power settings that can be unlocked.

Below are the settings I recommend to unlock...

Tweaking many of the extra hidden ones that are NOT included in this guide made zero
difference in gains and latency for my testings. So to keep it simple follow below.

USB settings
Hub Selective Suspend Timeout - uncheck
USB selective suspend setting - uncheck
Setting IOC on all TDs - uncheck
USB 3 Link Power Management - uncheck

Processor power management

Allow Throttle States - uncheck

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings

Change advanced power settings

Hard disk
Turn off hard disk after - never

Desktop background settings

Slide show - paused

Wireless adapter settings

Power saving mode - maximum performance

Sleep
Sleep after - never
Allow wake timers - never

USB settings
Hub selective suspend timeout - 100000 (max)
USB selective suspend setting - disabled
Setting IOC on all TDs - enabled
USB 3 link power management - off

Power buttons and lid

Power button action - do nothing
Sleep button action - do nothing

PCI express
Link state power management - off

Processor power management

Processor performance increase threshold - 10%
Processor performance decrease threshold - 10%
Processor energy performance preference policy - 0%
Allow throttle states - off
Processor performance decrease policy - ideal
Processor idle demote threshold - 10%
Processor duty cycling - disabled

Processor idle disable

Enable idle
                                  - lower temps, slightly more fps

Disable idle
                                  - lower latency, better response, better mouse input, higher temps &
slightly lower fps
The CPU will run 100% all of the time.
Some systems may have issues with this, set to enable idle if you are unsure.
I don’t recommend this unless you have a decent stable pc, decent cooling and don’t care
about CPU degradation. Your task manager will read at 100% disabling idle it’s probably a
bug.

Latency sensitivity hint processor performance - 100%

Processor idle promote threshold - 5%
Minimum processor state - 100%
Processor performance autonomous mode - enabled
Processor performance core parking overutilization threshold - 10%
System cooling policy - active
Maximum processor state - 100%
Processor autonomous activity window - leave default

Display
Turn off display after - never

Laptops
Some extra settings will be in there for laptops
Test for stability with prime95 and benchmark with cinebench as you go
Good luck
Make sure your cores are unparked in regedit

Remove microcode updates

Remove microcode that comes with newer versions of windows and fall back to your bios.
Take ownership of and delete - or delete with unlocker
C:\Windows\System32\mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll
C:\Windows\System32\mcupdate_AuthenticAMD.dll

Above disables windows spectre and meltdown

There is also a bios spectre and meltdown microcode side of things
This can only be reverted with a region unlock bios flash method (if your bios is already
patched)
Rolling back your bios version will not work

Always avoid spectre and meltown bios updates if your bios version does not have it
already

Use CPUZ validation to check your bios microcode

https://cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Disabling these windows and cpu side together/separately will help with lower CPU
temperatures and boost CPU performance. This does make you more vulnerable though.
