Technology has significantly changed communication and provided new opportunities for education. It has allowed students to take online classes and participate in webinars from home, giving more flexible access to education. It has also improved research capabilities by giving access to vast online information that can be easily verified across multiple sources. However, overreliance on informal communication methods through technology in businesses can risk lower perceived professionalism and cause information overwhelm if not managed properly.

Technology has significantly changed the way we communicate.

There are always new platforms

and tools available. Whether travelling or working remotely, we are able to carry out our tasks
without any problems. With a swipe of the finger or voice command, we may access information
and control devices in our homes and workplaces. Particularly, the use of digital media and
technology has had a significant influence on the communications industry.

New media vs traditional media

Media companies and advertisers now have excellent options to interact with people thanks to
new technologies. For information, people used to rely on newspapers and television. People
may now access material through a number of different sources, including websites, video
platforms, and social media.

The go-to sources for breaking news and information nowadays are social media platforms and
applications like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Consequently, professional journalists and
amateur publishers are competing for readers' attention.

There are many more options for advertisers to contact customers because to the abundance of
platforms. Advertisers may now display advertising that speak to specific interests instead than
concentrating on everyone.

Business

New technologies have also emerged over the years with the aim of making business operations
more efficient and effective. Technology has greatly improved the hiring process, one of the
most fundamental elements of running a business. Not long ago, companies were very
constrained when it came to recruiting new employees. Today, online job boards and social
media platforms allow employers to connect with top job seekers around the world, greatly
expanding the job pool. The hiring process isn't the only business strategy positively impacted by
technology. In short, technology has made it easier to collect and analyze large amounts of data
to make better decisions, and reports can be easily shared across the organization at any time.
New techniques to drive your business in addition to improving business strategy, technology
have made marketing easier, more effective, and more cost-effective. As the internet has grown
and social media platforms have popped up everywhere, marketing has become much easier,
especially for small businesses and startups with limited advertising budgets. Not only is it
cheaper to sell your business online, it's also easier to find your target audience, identify their
needs, and connect with them on a personal level. If a startup could advertise online instead, it
would be easier to get off the ground as they wouldn't have to invest a lot of resources to increase
brand exposure using traditional methods. Many of the technologies that have hit the market in
the last decade and will continue to hit the market in the years to come will help companies make
their day-to-day operations more efficient, reduce overhead costs and improve productivity, both
of which help improve profits increase.

Technology has benefited many more people and fields than just the business
community. One underrated benefit of how technology has advanced over the
past few decades is how it has impacted education.

Not everyone has the ability to attend college. Many people who would love to
continue their education can’t do so because they are working, taking care of
families, or live too far away from their local college to be able to commute.
Online classes have changed all that. Now students can enroll into online
programs or take single classes without having to leave their homes and at
their own convenience.

Students and professionals alike can benefit from seminars; however, they
can’t always make it to them because they live too far away, don’t have
access to transportation, or can’t schedule around the seminar to make it on
time. The schools themselves may not be able to afford sending their students
to a seminar during school hours. Web seminars make it possible for them to
watch the seminar streaming live from their classroom or their home. For
example, NASA has a program in which students can watch a webinar with
astronauts in space from their classroom. During such a webinar, students
can not only watch and listen to what the subject has to say, but ask questions
and interact with them in real time.

Before the Internet, you would have to go to a library to do research. Even

then, the library may not have had the books you needed. You would then
have to order the books through the library, which could take some time.
Doing research was cumbersome and time-consuming. With the Internet, you
can find information on any topic you can think of. You’ll have no trouble
finding multiple sources to verify that the information you obtain is as
accurate.

Business problems

Traditional written correspondence such as letters via postal mail is usually more
professional in format and tone, while email and texting can show a lower standard of
professionalism. This can become a problem if clients feel that the informal nature is a
reflection of actual capability. Professionalism suggests whether a company is capable
of doing the job it was hired for. Informal communications may tarnish a company's
reputation.

One of the biggest disadvantages of technology in communication is that it can lead to

information overwhelm. When employees receive an abundance of information
through multiple mediums, they may not have time to digest it all. When there are too
many sources of communication, employees may resist going through them. For
example, employees with dozens of emails in their inboxes and several voice
messages in one day may feel too stressed to review them all. As a result, they may
miss important details about a project or critical feedback from a customer, which can
cause problems for the business.
