Basic Vibration Forms

❑ Undamped free vibration

❑ Undamped forced vibration f

❑ Damped free vibration

❑ Damped forced vibration

Springs and dampers

Response of the passive vibration isolation system to unit impulse excitation.

Parameters of the spring and damper are chosen by such a way that the amplitude of
oscillation diminishes 5 times after 2 periods of oscillation.
Springs and dampers

Avoid the external exciting frequency to be same with the natural frequency
since it will cause resonant vibration.
Springs and dampers

Response of the passive vibration isolation system to external mechanical

excitation. High-frequency vibrations are suppressed entirely. Residual oscillation
occurs mainly at low frequencies.
Springs and dampers

Active vibration isolation system. Among the spring and damper there is a feedback
circuit which consists of accelerometer, actuator and signal processing electronics.
Control system
 Generally speaking, a control system is a system that
is used to realize a desired output or objective.

 Open-loop and closed-loop feedback control systems

◦ They appear in our homes, in cars, in industry, in
scientific labs, and in hospital…

◦ Principles of control have an impact on diverse fields as

engineering, economics, biology and medicine…
