ECDIS Checklist 0922

This document is an ECDIS preparation checklist that ships must complete to ensure their ECDIS systems meet standards. It requests voyage details and checks that the ship has documentation like type approval certificates for the ECDIS software and training certificates for officers. It also checks that the ECDIS software is compliant with the latest standards, including S-52 Presentation Library Edition 4.0, and that cybersecurity measures are in place like restricting USB use and applying updates at staggered intervals between dual ECDIS systems. Screenshots and logbook entries are requested as evidence that checks are performed.

TOPIC 3 : CYBER SECURITY

3a. Are Cyber- Security measures in place for the ECDIS ? These should include but not be limited to usage physical locks, for USB ports and
a dedicated ECDIS USB Stick / DVD which is scanned for viruses and kept exclusively for use with ECDIS.

3b.In case of dual ECDIS, applying permits and weekly updates in a staggered interval (not to be done simultaneously ) but with a large time
interval between both. The recommended interval should be a 24 Hour gap whenever possible e.g. Open Seas and can be reduced by the
MASTER to a lesser interval (not below a minimum of 1 Hr) if the vessel is within coastal / port areas and ENCs need to be updated due to Please show logged evidence that Weekly updates are applied at a staggered

may affect the performance of the ECDIS) to simultaneously affect all machines. When kept as standalone units, the Bridge Team can avoid
the issue to migrate instantly to the Back UP ECDIS
