VI. RATIONALE:

Pursuant to the Dep.Ed Order No. 72, s. 2013 entitled: "Youth for Environment in
Schools Organization (YES-O) Program. The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization
(YES-O) is a vital program that aims to promote environmental awareness and action among
students and schools. The program recognizes the critical role of the youth in shaping the future
of our planet and ensuring that it remains a healthy and sustainable place for future generations.
YES-O provides students with an opportunity to learn about environmental issues and challenges
and to develop the skills and knowledge needed to address these challenges through practical
action and community involvement.

The theme for this year's YES-O program, "Nature Doesn't Need People but People
Need Nature," highlights the importance of recognizing the intrinsic value of nature and the
critical role that it plays in our lives. The theme emphasizes that the natural world does not exist
solely for human use and exploitation but has its own inherent value and purpose. It is essential
to understand that human well-being is interconnected with the well-being of the environment.

The theme is particularly relevant in the current global context, where the degradation of
ecosystems and the loss of biodiversity are among the most significant environmental challenges
facing humanity. The theme serves as a reminder that the survival and prosperity of human
societies depend on the health and vitality of natural systems.

The theme also emphasizes the need for a shift in mindset and values towards a more
sustainable and responsible relationship with nature. It encourages students to think critically
about their actions and choices and to develop a deeper appreciation and respect for the natural
world. Through the YES-O program, students can learn about the many ways in which they can
contribute to the protection and preservation of the environment and work towards a more
sustainable future.

VII. OBJECTIVES:

A. General

environmental awareness and action among pupils, foster a culture of environmental
stewardship and sustainability, and enhance the creativity, innovation, teamwork, and
leadership skills of the Grades 3 - 6.

O, taking into consideration the needs assessment findings and the program's
objectives. Identify the resources needed, including funding, materials, and human
resources.
2. Form a YES-O core team: The first step is to form a YES-O core team consisting of
committed and enthusiastic teachers and students who will spearhead the
implementation of YES-O activities in the school.

team can develop an action plan that outlines the activities to be implemented, the
timeline, the budget, and the expected outcomes.

funding. The YES-O core team should identify potential funding sources such as
local government, private companies, and NGOs that can support the activities.

team should mobilize the necessary resources such as manpower, equipment, and
materials needed to implement the activities.

elementary level students through various channels such as school announcements,
posters, and social media. Recruit interested students to participate in the program
and form a YES-O organization within the school.

provided by the school, and the YES-O core team can implement the activities
outlined in the action plan.
