NOTE 1 These recommendations are for the cements and combinations listed in subclauses NA.2.2 and NA.2.7 of this National Annex. In XS, XD classes when GGBS > 35 % and Fly Ash >
20%, lower minimum strength classes can be used, see table NC.1 to table NC.6. Limiting values for alternative covers are also given in table NC.1 to table NC.6.

NOTE 2
N
The minimum cover to reinforcement in XC classes should be increased by 5 mm in concretes where the GGBS content exceeds 50%.

NOTE 3 The values in Table NA.5 are based on the assumption of an intended working life of at least 50 years under the anticipated maintenance conditions. For advice on longer service life in
Exposure Classes XC, XS and XD, see Annex NC.

NOTE 4 For definition of minimum cover Cmin , see I.S. EN 1992-1-1, subclause 4.4.1. NOTE that nominal cover cnom = cmin + ∆cdev.

NOTE 5 The recommendations in respect of Exposure Classes XA relate to aggressive conditions defined in Table 2 of I.S. EN 206. For combinations of aggressive chemicals see guidance in
Table 2. Further guidance for aggressive chemicals and complex site conditions, is contained in BRE Special Digest 1.
