The NABH Patients Rights and Education (PRE) chapter aims at:
▪ Rights and responsibilities are defined.
▪ Same is informed to patients.
▪ Staff are aware of these and make every effort to protect patient’s rights.
Note: Patient’s rights should be displayed in prominent locations and staff should
be provided training to ensure them.

▪ List of areas and procedures where privacy should be ensured.
▪ Policies on protecting patients from physical abuse or neglect.
▪ Policies on maintaining confidentiality of patient’s information.
▪ Policy on storing consent forms and their retention period.
▪ Procedures for mechanism for handling patient’s complaint.

▪ Consents should be audited for completion and documented.
Document policy on areas and procedures where patient requires privacy across the
organization

Requirements / Implementation

staff negligence, assault, batter, child abuse, man handling, repeated

time registration as outpatient and before each hospital
admission (General consent is the consent for admission,
