MIDTERM EXAM IN FOUNDATION OF EDUCATION

1. What do you think are the reasons why we studied the foundation of education?

Foundations of Education are those systems or sciences upon which education stands and

has its roots, origin, or bases. Foundations of education are those from which education arose

and came into being. They are the factors that affected education so much particularly,

curriculum content. The goal of such research is to help students sharpen their abilities to

examine, comprehend, and explain educational proposals, arrangements, and practices, as well

as to develop a disciplined sense of policy-oriented educational responsibility.

The goal of foundations research is to use these disciplinary resources to develop

interpretive, normative, and critical perspectives on education, both inside and outside of

schools. The interpretive perspectives employ concepts and theories developed in the

humanities and social sciences to assist students in examining, comprehending, and explaining

education in various contexts.

Foundational studies encourage analysis of educational institutions' intent, meaning, and

effects, including schools. Such research focuses on the various contexts in which educational

phenomena occur, as well as how interpretation can vary depending on historical, philosophical,

and cultural perspectives. Students can use normative perspectives to examine and explain

education in light of their value orientations. Foundational studies promote an understanding of

normative and ethical behavior in educational development, as well as an acceptance of the

inevitability of normative influences in educational thought and practice. Foundational studies

investigate the nature of assumptions about education and schooling. They investigate the

relationship between policy analysis and values, as well as the degree to which educational

policymaking reflects values. Finally, they encourage students to develop their own value

positions regarding education based on critical study and personal reflection.

The goal of such research is to help students sharpen their abilities to examine,

comprehend, and explain educational proposals, arrangements, and practices, as well as to

develop a disciplined sense of policy-oriented educational responsibility. Such research raises

awareness of education and schooling in light of their complex relationships with the

surrounding culture.

2. Why are the foundation of education important in the formulation of the curriculum?

It helps educators in developing beliefs, arguments, and assumptions, as well as in making

value judgments. It also contributes to a broader understanding of what schools and subjects

are important, how students should learn, and what materials and methods should be used.

Foundations are the forces that shape curriculum developers' minds. In this way, they

influence the curriculum's content and structure. The curriculum reflects a country's society and

culture, and it is a society's desire that their children learn the habits, ideas, attitudes, and skills

of adult society and culture, and educational institutions are the proper way to impart these

skills. It is the responsibility of the teacher and the school to discipline the youth of the society

and provide them with a set of experiences in the form of a curriculum. The needs, knowledge,

and information of society serve as the foundation for curriculum development.

Curriculum is used to modify students' behavior, and philosophy aids in the process of

finding new ways and bases for teachers and curriculum planners to modify their behavior.
Philosophy also aids in the exploration of new teaching methods and how to apply them in the

classroom setting for better achievement of the teaching learning process. It also introduces

new approaches and methods for assessing student achievement and curriculum.

Today's world emphasizes finding new ways for man to develop new concepts of reality and

knowledge and to form a new structure of knowledge in this dynamic and changing time, so

discovery, invention, and restructuring of knowledge and curriculum in new patterns are highly

valued. The new curriculum is now open to new experiences, logical and critical thinking, and

the concept of knowledge derived from interpreted experience.

3. How does the history of education contribute to the development of a professional

teacher?

History of Education will assist you in understanding how past events shaped current

education systems, theories, and related phenomena in the field of teacher education in

particular and education in general. Second, it will help you understand the importance of

education to humanity throughout the generations. By doing so, you will be able to critically

examine the fundamental role that education plays in societal transformation. Because we are a

change agent as a teacher, learning the history of education will prepare teachers in training to

examine current trends and dynamics in education, draw practical lessons from the past, avoid

potential blunders, and initiate more viable plans for the benefit of society.

The study of educational history assists teachers in training to appreciate the various

aspects of their past educational process in order to connect them to the present. It allows

future teachers to understand the type of education we had and the purpose it served in the

past. It allows future teachers to learn about our educational mistakes in order to make
necessary corrections. The history of education allows future teachers to study other people's

educational ideas and programs in order to improve their own.

It also provides a solid foundation for future teachers to plan for our current and future

educational development. The history of education guides teachers in their preparation to offer

some positive solution to our current educational problems. It assists new teachers in

understanding some major trends and developments in our educational system. It assists

teachers in training in developing and implementing better educational philosophies. History of

education is a good academic exercise for teachers to improve their training knowledge. It

broadens the teacher's scope and knowledge, making him more at ease and competent in his

classroom. Knowledge of educational history can assist teachers in training to be competent in

handling any political appointment on education, whether national or international.
