Option: Fiber Optic Cable Conversion
 Convert the system from Ethernet cable to fiber optic cable
 Using third parties’ media converters (repeater type) and fiber optic cable
 Extends the transmission distance
 Max. total transmission distance: 5 km per line
* Transmission distance between media converters follows the converter specification.
 Eliminates the effects of noise on the cable

Note: Refer to the Yokogawa Web site below (registration required) for the verified media converters.
“System Requirements” => “Verified Peripherals ”page in the “YOKOGAWA Partner Portal STARDOM” site.

E2 Bus Feature: Flexible Arrangement
 Select from various sizes of base module
 Compact (new), short*1, and long base modules can be used as both control and
extension units depending on the installation space and/or required number of I/Os
 E2 bus can be duplexed*2
 2 lines of daisy-chain connection
 Each of two E2 bus master module ports can be used as a separate line
 With 2 lines, up to 8 extension units can be connected (or all 8 units on 1 line)
*1 Please use the N2BU051 (new) as a short base module. The NFBU050 does not support the E2 bus.
*2 When the compact base module is used as a control unit, the E2 bus cannot be duplexed.

E2 Bus Feature: High Reliability
 Duplex configuration
 Operation can be continued even if the E2 bus interface
module or cable fails
Note: If the power to the extension unit goes off, communication to the
downstream extension units is also lost

Option of the duplex bus

Ring like topology is available by connecting 2 busses
in the opposite direction

Even if the power to one extension unit goes off, the connection
between the control unit and the other units can be maintained.

Simplified Setup and Maintenance

 Current challenges of FCN-100/FCJ

 Because of the complicated license system, making estimates and
product setup are burden for sales persons or engineers.
 Difficulty of making estimates
 Engineer’s hesitation due to complicated setup procedures
 High total cost by adding license fee for each

In order to solve the above challenges,

controller software licenses are bundled in
advance.

Simplified Redundancy
 For duplex CPU module configuration, just install 2 of the same
CPU modules.
 Simple select checkboxes on the Resource Configurator and set DIP
switches on the base module.

Same type of
modules

 Restriction on duplex CPU configuration

 Modules must be of the same type and suffix code of CPU module.
A paring of the NFCP501 and NFCP502 is not allowed for duplex CPU.
Bundled basic software license is common for single and duplex
CPU module configuration

Improved File System Stability

 Embedded flash memory (SSD 1 Gbyte) instead of system card (CF)

in the FCN-100/FCJ

 Stable file system

 Even in case of a sudden power failure, important user data is secure.
 Files and directories are fully protected.
 The robust file system is field-proven in the FCN-RTU and protected
even in harsh environments for long years.
