Dynamic Stability

This document provides instructions for creating events to model wind variation scenarios like ramp up or ramp down in DIgSILENT PowerFactory. The steps include: 1. Selecting the wind turbine generator (WTG) and defining results for simulation. 2. Choosing the output power variable and setting it as an input signal. 3. Creating a parameter event to specify the element, time, variable, and new output power value for ramping the WTG's power up or down over time.

How to create an event for Dynamic Stability cases like Wind variation (Ramp Up or Ramp down) in
DIgSILENT Powerfactory.
1. Select the WTG that needs in the variation of output power. Right click select define and select results
for Simulation RMS/EMT.

2. Results Tab will appear. Double click the WTG

3. After selecting WTG Variable Selection Tab will appear. Select the Simulation RMS and Choose the
variable set as Signals. Select the variable in Available variables (Type as IN) and click OK. Close
the Results Tab.

4. Create event by Selecting Edit Simulation Events. By Changing tool box option to Simulation
RMS/EMT Stability simulation in Powerfactory can be done.

5. After Selecting Edit Simulation Event. Select New Object and choose element selection as Parameter
event. Click Ok.

6. Parameter event Tab will appear. Select the Element name to which wind variation like either ramping
up power or ramping down. Specify at which time the variation needs to occur. Specify the Name of
variable which has been selected in variable selection. Specify the value (New Value) which needed
either to decrease or increase the output power with respect to time.

Example: Below given image I have created a output power ramp down to 1 pu to 0.2 pu.

7. Similar to that, you can create an event and choose whether to ramp up or ramp down with respect
to time.
