Diary of A Survivor

The narrator initially dismissed warnings about the coronavirus pandemic because their birthday was approaching. However, the virus quickly spread, infecting thousands and killing hundreds. The narrator's school was shut down due to lockdowns and restrictions. When schools reopened, the narrator discovered that many students and teachers had become infected with zombie-like symptoms. The narrator used hand sanitizer to reverse the effects of the virus on the headmistress. They then made more hand sanitizer and cured the infected school. Though exhausted, the narrator had found a way to defeat the virus and was praised for saving the school, but was told to self-isolate for two weeks due to potential exposure.

INVINCIBLE...

ALMOST
Today rumour was spreading about a so called
“coronavirus pandemic” but I was not concerned. And
before you start criticizing me, I have an excuse. My
birthday was coming up fast!

Little did I know that such a small virus could be a big

problem…. Pressure was building up and I kind of
regret not listening to everyone, but I think I gathered
enough knowledge to keep me up to date. Before the
week even finished, the coronavirus had killed over five
hundred people. It was so bad that my birthday party
was abruptly cancelled. This virus was becoming a
serious problem, but can you believe there were people
not following the regulations. They thought the virus
was a swindle even though nearly a thousand people
had been infected and over five hundred people had
perished.
Suddenly, all the schools in the United Kingdom shut
down. Apparently, the country had gone into
lockdown. My friends and I were stuck at home for a
long time…

Finally, restrictions were lifting, and schools were

slowly opening but little did I know that my adventure
had just begun. School was different this year. I had
been at this school for a little over 6 years and I have
never seen the hall so deserted. It was like a ghost
town. One of my friends came to school with a sore
throat which was one of the symptoms of coronavirus.
I was surprised that my other friends were not
concerned but I suppose we are in flu season. The next
day, the boy who had a sore throat came in waddling
like someone that forgot how to walk. He had dark
shadows under his eyes and so did a dozen other
pupils. Even some of the teachers were looking ill. It
was not until the next day that I knew I had a
coronavirus Armageddon in my school… I came in,
expecting to have another boring day but then I
realised that me and my best friend were the only ones
who were not acting rather bizarrely.
Suddenly, the sick pupils and teachers came charging
at us, so we ran. Eric floundered and fell into the
preying hands of the sick stampede. I ran to go and
help him fight his way out, but he said I should go and
leave him to save the school. Then he got infected and
joined the zombie like pupils. Tears filled my eyes, but I
knew I had to go on because the fate of the school was
in my hands. I dashed off to an empty classroom. I then
heard a weak groan, so I zipped round. I had just
locked myself inside a classroom with the infected
headmistress! Without thinking I pulled out a half-
empty bottle of hand sanitizer and sprayed it all over
her. For a second she didn’t move, then she looked at
me in shock and screamed “WHY DID YOU DRENCH ME
IN HAND SANITIZER?!” but I didn’t care I had just found
a way to reverse the effects of the coronavirus. I sped
down the corridor and roughly opened the door to the
science lab then jammed it shut.

I knew that if I could make some dispensers and make

a profusion of hand sanitizer [or should I call it body
sanitizer], I could take down this virus and possibly
change humanity forever! After a few hours of hard
work, I knew I was ready. I had mixed ingredients like
ethyl alcohol, water, fragrance, and glycerine which
were all components my parents had taught me about.
I opened the door silently and started spraying my
supply of hand sanitizer everywhere. The corridor was
now flooded with hand sanitizer and dazed pupils.

Eventually, the dazed pupils and teachers recovered. I

told them the whole story about how I had heroically
saved the school. Suddenly, I fainted after being
overwhelmed by questions, but I was okay. I had
survived! The rest of the day was exhausting. Reporters
from all over London came to hear the series of events.
When the day ended and we all walked home, I looked
at the state I was in. My uniform was torn, the soles of
my shoes had almost peeled off fully and I smelled
badly of hand sanitizer. I was going to be in so much
trouble. When I opened the door, my parents did not
even ask what happened. I was assuming I had been on
the news, so they heard about everything that
happened. They praised me on saving the school and
surviving, but they also sent me to my room because I
needed to self-isolate because I had been in contact
with the virus.

I do not think I will be out of the house any time soon…

The next 14 days was quite boring. Breakfast, lunch
and dinner was served straight to my bedroom because
I might spread my germs to my parents. While I was in
isolation, I thought about the things I had done. I had
saved the school and possibly found a cure for the
dangerous coronavirus. I then realised my adventure
had suddenly, begun. I was invincible, almost…

Before you go, I just want to give you a list of the most
common coronavirus symptoms, so you know what to
look out for. Be careful if anyone around you has a
fever, dry cough with phlegm, fatigue, shortness of
breath, muscle or joint pain, sore throat, headache,
chills, nausea or vomiting, nasal congestion and
diarrhoea.
Thank you to the NHS for all they did and are still doing
during this pandemic. They are our real idols.
