4Generation Design (4GD) allows users of NX and Lifecycle Visualization to co-operate in real time during the design cycle of a product. It uses a flexible component-based approach to organize assembly data in more flexible groupings called partitions, removing limitations of previous design systems to enable design of very large products in a collaborative way. The key advantages of 4GD for design management are improved performance and scalability, design integrity, concurrent working, and user productivity. Smart Discovery is a solution that makes it easier to organize, find, and provide insights into product information using 4GD for search and visualization contexts. It leverages both Smart Discovery and component-based authoring in NX as part of the 4GD approach.
