1The main function of NGASP
1.1 After our meeting I could understand that NGASP provide measurement and collect the
parameters of two segments of the network:
First network segment: BRAS <> MSAN
Second network segment: MSAN <> CPE

As said during the call, the CPE monitoring was part of the solution with the AXTRACT
deployment that had been set up in the past, but currently that part of the solution is no
longer active.
From my perspective these are the current NGASP functionalities:
- Assurance end2end of the network elements connected to a customer line:
o FTTH:
 ONT
 OLT
 BRAS
o VDSL:
 MSAN
 BRAS
- Discovery of OLT, MSAN, BRAS
- Monitoring of the same devices
- SNMP trap management
- Operations on OLT, MSAN: Lock and reset User Port, Reset user card

specifically to the chapters “2.6.1 VDSL DEVICE” and “2.6.2 GPON DEVICE” for a list of
parameters observable for the 2 different technologies.

2.1 Is the NGASP integrated with all the BRAS and MSANs of the TIM’s network?

2.2 Are MSAN and BRAS the only elements integrated/monitored with/by NGASP in the SBI?
As said, in the past we have deployed also an AXTRACT project to monitor CPE/Access
Gateway at user home, but currently the solution is not active.

2.3 How many BRAS and MSANs are integrated with NGASP?
See above the details of inventory that we have reported.

2.4 Could you provide the BRAS distribution by UF like shown in the table on topic 4 of this
document?

See above the details of inventory that we have reported at the point “And let’s have a look at

I could find some information about the MSANs integrated with NGASP through the link
below. Could you please tell me where I can find information about the BRAS?

network paths for a serviceId and then looks at BRAS information with a click on the specific
button.
