Accessing Guided Learning

Login to MYOL, click on your

subject, scroll down and go to
Primary Resources, look for Guided
Learning and click ‘Access’.

You will then be redirected to a

KnowledgEquity webpage. Here is
the Strategic Management
Accounting page, as an example.

Click the ‘Start Course’ button

(which becomes the ‘Continue
Course’ button on subsequent
logins).
The Get Started Unit

The first unit in the course, in the

‘Introduction’ section, is the ‘Get
Started’ unit.

You will see a range of tabs on the

left-hand side. Click on the tabs to
view the relevant content.

We recommend that you complete

items 1 to 3 (in this order) so that
you take a planned approach to
your studies and put timeframes
to your semester.
‘1. Make Your Results Pledge’ –
this is not a wish but the result you
are striving for at the end of
semester given the time and effort
you plan to commit to your
subject. Watch our 20 second clip
and make your pledge.
‘2. Book your Practice Exams’ –
Guided Learning includes two
practice exams per semester. We
recommend that you book these in
advance so that you can plan
ahead and adjust your study
timetable. Practice exams are
released in week 8 of the
semester, and we encourage you
to attempt Practice exam 1 two
weeks before, and Practice exam 2
one week before, your CPA
Program exam.

Note 1: Dates are adjusted

according to the semester’s exam
dates

Note 2: You can attempt the

practice exams at any time, once
they have been released. The
practice exam booking dates are
for your study planning purposes.
Should life happen and you can’t
sit your practice exams on the
dates booked, these can be done at
any time; there’s no need to
rebook. Keep reading for more
details in relation to your practice
exams.
‘3. Build your Study Plan’ – Now
that you have made your pledge
and booked your practice exams, it
is time build your study plan.
Watch our 2-minute clip and
download and fill in our template
study plan to guide you.
The ‘FAQs and Errata’ tab will
include any published CPA
Program Errata, any FAQs
applicable to the subject (including
date published, so that you make
certain you are working with the
latest one), and a PDF released by
CPA Australia which provides an
outline of the CPA Program exams.
The Webinars Unit

On the right-hand side of your

screen, the next section is called
‘Webinars’ and this is where the
‘Webinars’ unit is located.

This unit is made up of the

webinar schedule and weekly
tabs breaking your modules into
bite size chunks.

Your weekly emails will guide you

in terms of what need to be done
when; just click on the applicable
tabs to open up the preparation
work, the webinar recordings and
the slide downloads.
Module Units

In the course menu, when you

We encourage you to work

through these units methodically
and complete the available
module quizzes before moving
onto the next module.
When you click into a unit, (SMA
M1 – Part A: What Is Value?
shown here) there will be steps
that you need to follow. Here, we

video (red arrow) which will offer
some clarity in relation to the
content covered, and Step 2,
which is a mini quiz (blue arrow)
that tests your understanding of
the video. Other steps may
include questions, solutions, flow
diagrams, news clips and PDF
downloads.
Once you have completed the
steps in a unit, please mark it as
complete. You can then track
your course progress above the

module quizzes. Click on the

attempt, and you will be taken to

which modules it covers and the
time allocated to completing it.
The Mid-semester test will be
situated just below the Webinars
section, as shown here. As in the
case of the Practice exams, you
will only have one attempt at it.
Note that the Mid-semester test
does not count towards your final

In the menu, below the Module

sections, is a section called
‘Revision’, where you will find
revision quizzes.

Later in the semester, additional

resources including Boot camp,
the Exam Preparation webinar
and the Practice Exams will be
available here.
The Revision Quizzes vary in
marks and can be taken up to 10

The Practice Exams are released

in week 8 of the semester. There
are two practice exams for you to
test your knowledge. These aim
to mimic your CPA Program exam
and therefore can only be
attempted once each. These will
also have the same amount of
MCQs and ERQs (if applicable) as
in your final exam. Answers are
only supplied for questions you
have attempted. As shown, you
will need to read the instructions
and then click ‘Start Practice
Exam’. You will be given 3 hours
