Delivery Methodology
The [Web design company] delivery methodology is structured according to defined project
phases, and incorporates project management processes derived from the PMBoK (Project
Management Body of Knowledge).

Design Activities

1. Technical Specification
The first phase is the development of a detailed technical specification that interprets your
business and functional requirements, and creates a detailed blueprint for the application.

The methodology is derived from agile methodologies, and commences with use cases and
storyboarding in a series of collaborative workshops with your project team. Written and
diagrammatic technical specifications are drafted and submitted for your approval.

The detailed description provided in the technical specification gives your organization an
opportunity to confirm that our developers have interpreted your requirements correctly, and that
the application will be developed in a way that meets your current and future needs.

2. Static Prototype and Design Validation

The most important factor in determining the success of the application will be the experience it
delivers to users. Your corporate image depends not only on the functionality contained within the
application, but also on the ease with which users can interact with it and perform the tasks that
matter to them.

To deliver a successful application, particular attention will need to be paid to the structure of the
information to be presented, the way in which the user will navigate through the application, and
the technical scalability of the design.

3
The prototype phase allows us to visually confirm the details of the technical specification, seek
further input from the client, and test the interactive experiences. By putting this limited
application in front of stakeholders, we identify any subtle design issues and refine these prior to
development of the final application.

3. Approval Tests
As proponents of agile development methodologies, [Web design company] strongly advocate
test-driven development—that is, the creation of tests that will demonstrate conclusively that the
application, upon passing these tests, has conformed to everybody’s reasonable expectations. By
creating these tests at the outset, our developers have unambiguous outcomes to program for,
and the client and vendor are easily able to agree whether all objectives have been met.

4. Approval of Project Specification

[Web design company] will present the technical specification, the final report of the design
validation, and the Approval Tests for review and acceptance before commencing the
development of the final application.

Build Activities

1. Web Page Templates and Software Components Development

The development of the web page templates—creating custom software components that
implement the “look and feel” of the website—will be the largest part of the project. [Web design
company] identifies core components that need to be built first, and, based upon our Risk
Management Plan, build the remainder of the components/modules in the order that ensures
greatest transparency and management of risk. Ideally, programming tasks are broken down into
the smallest practical set of tasks, and each cluster of activity integrated and tested as frequently
as practical.

Automated regression and unit testing ensures the integrity, functionality, and compliance of
individual modules and the application as a whole.

[Web design company] will make sections of the website available for you to review throughout
the development process. We encourage feedback so that issues are addressed as early as
possible in the process.

2. Transfer to Hosting Environment

Our project management team identifies the appropriate time to deploy the application to the
hosting environment. This allows testing and verification of all software components in situ, and
integration of the site with host-specific monitoring tools.

Once the application is configured in the hosting environment, [Web design company] performs
final QA and compliance checks, and security audits.

When the solution has been certified through our QA process, [Web design company] will assist
your organization to formally perform User Acceptance Tests (UAT).

Test Activities

1. Developer Testing
During the development of the code base, [Web design company] uses a continuous integration
process, which involves fine-grained regression tests run on an hourly basis. These tests feed
back into the development process, ensuring components meet requirements and are defect-free.

4
Regression tests minimize the overhead of the conventional integration process, allowing
components to be developed rapidly while still meeting a very high level of quality. [Web design
company] employs this technique on all its development projects, and has a strong track record of
defect-free deployments that “just work.”

2. SitePoint QA
As [Web design company] develops each component of the website, a quality assurance process
is applied to ensure the component is fit for purpose.

Once each component has been tested, it is integrated within the overall application. At this
stage, an independent tester certifies the integrated application. In addition to checking for
compliance with client specifications, [Web design company] places particular emphasis on
verifying compliance with development standards, W3C standards, performance criteria, cross-
browser compatibility, accessibility, and usability.

3. User Acceptance Testing

[Web design company] will provide your organization with private access to the completed
application for review and approval. Once approved, the application will be ready for
implementation. At this point in the project, [Web design company] will transfer all project
materials over to ongoing support and maintenance staff.

Delivery Activities

1. Deliver Documentation and Training

Documentation is finalized subsequent to sign-off of User Acceptance Testing of the application.
[Web design company] will deliver customized documentation and provide “train the trainer”
training to your staff.

The training will focus on the practical tasks performed by your staff in the management and use
of the application. Documentation will be delivered in soft-copy form so that your organization can
make it available to staff as needed throughout the organization. All documentation is written in
plain English.

2. Quality Assurance
[Web design company] uses a combination of best practice and a standardized methodology to
deliver quality business solutions.

Every component of the [Web design company] approach to project management is designed to
ensure a quality outcome. This includes our gating process, weekly stakeholder meetings, code
control, code review, and thorough testing regimes.

Central to the process is the maintenance of open and active communications between the
development team and the client. This communication, formalized through the requirements
gathering, proposal, testing, approval, and training phases, is inherent in all aspects of a project’s
evolution, including the incremental software development process that [Web design company]
undertakes.

The success of this approach is evident in our history of delivering quality and timely outcomes
for our clients and our flagship product, the [Web design company].com website.

3. Change Management
[Web design company] employs a standard change management process to ensure that the
effects of change are always known, managed, and transparent to all parties. In the interests of

ensuring that projects are delivered on time and on budget, any deviation from the agreed
deliverables will trigger the change management process as follows:

• A change is identified and the [Web design company] project manager is notified.
• An impact assessment is carried out and the client is informed of the impact of the change to
the time line and budget (if any).
• If the change is approved, it is factored into the project plan and all affected parties
are notified.
