General Mathematics Week 3

This lesson plan summarizes a lesson on performing multiplication, division, and composition of functions. The lesson will begin with preliminary activities like prayer and reviewing domain and range. Students will then participate in a guessing game involving function operations. The teacher will analyze examples with the class and explain how to identify the operations. Students will then practice applying the operations in examples and be evaluated on performing given function operations. As homework, students will study rational functions, equations, and inequalities.

OPERATIONS ON FUNCTIONS || GRADE 11 GENERAL MATHEMATICS Q1
Materials: visual aide, handouts, chalk and eraser

III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities
a.1 Prayer
a.2 Greetings
a.3 Checking of Attendance
a.4 Review (What is domain and range?)

B. Motivation
 GUESS WHAT OPERATION USED!!!
 The teacher will let her students sing the ten little indian while passing the
ball to his/her seatmate and if the teacher said stop the students stop to sing
and the last who hold the ball will be answer the following questions:
1. (f + g) (x)
2. (f * g) (x)
3. f(x)/g(x)
4. (f/g)(x)
5. f(x) x g(x)
 If the answer is correct he/she will receive a prize.
 If he/she is wrong he/she will not receive a prize but a plus points in his/her
performance.

C. Analysis
 The teacher will ask the following:
1. What have you notice to the given?
2. How do you find out if the operation used is addition, subtraction,
multiplication, or division?
 The teacher will help his/her student to understand the lesson about
multiplication, division and composition of function.
D. Abstract
Adding and Subtracting Functions

Many of the problems we will work in this lesson are problems you may already know how to
do. You will just need to get used to some new notation.

We will start with the operations of multiplication, division and composition of functions.

NOTE: in order to further expand and understand the topic, the teacher will send the link for
more example related to the topic through email or group chat.

E. Application
Test I. Perform the given operations.
f(x) = 12x - 3
g(x) = 2x - 6

1. (f * g)(x) = f(x) * g(x)

2. (f/g)(x) = f(x)/g(x)
3. (f o g)(x) = f(g(x))

IV. Evaluation:
Direction: Perform the given operations.
