Welcome to the English 9 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module 2 on Modal Verbs.

What I Need to Know
This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to help you master the Literary
device. The scope of this module permits it to be used in many different learning situations. The
language used recognizes the diverse vocabulary level of students. The lessons are arranged to
follow the standard sequence of the course. But the order in which you read them can be changed
to correspond with the textbook you are now using.
In this module, you will learn and explore more about various literary devices and their usage with
more focus on the following modalities:

• define the common literary devices in a literary text;
• identify and name the functions of various literary devices used in a text; and
• compose a literary piece that shows your concern on the present issues and your dispositions
in life.

English, both spoken and written, are emphasized nowadays for English is the universal language
and a person must and should have knowledge about it. Standard English should be prioritized in
developing the mastery of language among students.

Literary devices are techniques used by the poets or writers to give emphasis or enhancement to
the thoughts or messages that they wanted to express in their literary piece. Using literary devices
can add appealing style of writing. It aims to give the readers an aesthetic feeling when they read
the selection.

current situation. So as to prevent the young ones from succumbing into depression.

It must be a self-composed spoken poetry and it must have with it the literary devices being
asked for.

Creativity 10 points
It will show how the poet/writer played with the words used in the piece.

Diction and Spontaniety 10 points


It will be showcasing their choice of words used and how they manage to connect the flow
of thought in their creation.

Total Score = 40 points
