LEARNING PLAN

Preschool Department

Subject: Reading – Pre-K Teacher: Angel Fe A. Reyes Date: June 29, 2023

I. Learning Goals: At the end of the lesson the pupils are expected to:

Cognitive:
- identify uppercase A and lowercase letter a.
- recognize objects that start with letter Aa.
- sound out the short /ă/ sound and long /ā/ sound.

Psychomotor:
- engage in fine motor activities, like creating art about the letter Aa.
- trace and write the letter Aa (uppercase and lowercase) with proper formation.
- participate in gross motor activities like dancing and singing songs that start with Aa.

Affective:
- appreciate the letter Aa as an important element of language and communication.
- show confidence and pride in correctly identifying and pronouncing Aa words.
- develop a positive attitude towards language learning and the significance of
recognizing letters for communication and literacy.

II. Topic: Letter Aa

Values Integration: Appreciation for God's creation

Subject Integration: Math - Numbers

Materials: Flashcards, popsicle sticks, printouts, glue, boxes, real objects, scotch tape, scissor,
paper bag and power point presentation

III. Procedure/Strategies:

a. Preparation
- Sing a song entitled, “Phonics Song.”

b. Lesson Proper:
1. Motivation:
- Gather the pupils in a circle.
- Play a game called, “The mystery challenge.”
- Ask 2-3 pupils to showcase their skills by stepping up in front of the class. The
task is to guess the object, describe it and successfully identify the object.

2. Presentation:
- Begin the lesson by introducing the letter Aa. Show the letter Aa to the pupils
and explain that it is the letter we will be learning about today.
- Have the students repeat the letter Aa after you and make the sound of the letter
("Aa" says /ă/ and “Aa says /ā/).
- Play a short game about sorting uppercase A and lowercase a.
- Encourage the students to trace the shape of the letter Aa in the air using their
fingers or use the popsicle sticks to build the letter Aa.
- Show how to write the letter Aa.
- Introduce objects that start with the letter Aa.

3. Application/Activities:
- Play a game called, "Feed the Letter Aa Monster: Object Sorting Adventure!"
- Distribute an activity worksheet about the letter Aa.
- Make an art about the letter Aa.
- Cite the importance of letter Aa.

IV. Evaluation
A. Draw a line from the letter Aa to each picture that start with the letter Aa.
B. Draw objects that start with the letter Aa.
