Module 2: An overview
- Understand the approach taken by this training course
- Know the course contents, syllabus, learning materials, learning
resources, course requirements during their training
- Understand the assessment they are expected to undertake
- Know the course rules
- Identify the main steps to be successful in this course and
- Introduce themselves and voice their on the learning website.
Module 3: Approaches and methods
- Identify the differences between the old series of Tieng Anh textbooks
and the new ones
- Understand the approaches in designing the new Tieng Anh textbooks
- Analyse how the approaches are used in different parts of the textbooks
and
- Design a plan to teach a group of students
Module 4: Methods of teaching E to young learners
- Review the learning characteristic of young learners
- Identify the main features of some common methods of teaching
primary school pupils and
- Select the appropriate teaching, methods, useful procedures, and
techniques of teaching E to children in their real teaching
Module 5: Classroom management
- Reflect and share their experience in dealing with children’s
common disruptive behaviour in their E classes
- Identify some approaches for good classroom management
- Apply good management classroom skills to ensure effective learning
and maintaining motivation
- Organize activitives (pairwork or groupwork, stirring and settling
activities... ) in their own classes
Module 6: Lesson planning
- Familiarize themselves with different components of a lesson plan
- Identify the goals and the languge input off each lesson and the
procedure to teach students to achieve outcome (G.I.P.O lesson plan
template...)
- Apply the principles of lesson planning to write lesson plans that most
benefit their teaching
Module 7 +8: Facilitating spoken interaction and spoken
introduction
- Grasp some common techniques to teach spoken interaction and
spoken introduction
- Apply some suggested and practical activities for teaching spoken
interaction and spoken introduction
Module 10: Teaching vocabulary
- Understand the different aspects in teaching vocab
- Be aware of different steps in teaching vocab and
- Use different techniques in teaching vocab effectively
Module 11: Developing reading and writing skills
- Identify challenges in teaching reading and writing skills and
solutions to tackle them
- Understand the stages of reading and writing lesson
- Adopt some useful techniques to teach and motivate pupils in

Module 12: Teaching phonics
- Understand the phonics and phonemic charts and how to
pronounce them

Module 13: teaching E through songs and chants
- Be aware of benefits of using songs and chants in E primary school
classes

- Practise adapting or creating songsand chants for use in their real
primary school classes
- Share the experience of teaching songs and chants, difficulties and
solutions
Module 15: Conducting tests
- Master five techniques to test pupils’ oral ability; identifying
objects/people, describing pictures, reading out loud, interview and
roleplay
- Understand important test techniques that are used in written
standardize tests

- Exploit the ready-made test resources
Module 16: Conducting continuous and project assessment
- be aware of assessment and its role in teaching and learning

Module 17: Adapting the textbooks to different learners and learning
environment
- Recognize the inappropriate activities for young people
- Use some basics techniques to adapt the textbooks to suit young
learners and their teaching situations
Module 18: Utilising the teacher’s books
- Identify the typical teacher’s activities and pupils’ activities in an E
language class
- Master techniques to elicit, scaffold and check pupils’ understanding
- Exploit different inputs available in the teacher’s book
- Use the teacher’s book to create a lesson plan or an activity
Module 19: Independent learning and professional development
- Understand the term “ professional development” and explain how it
applies to their experience
- Self-reflect and self-assess using British continuing Professional
development Framework and VN english teacher competency framework
- Conduct professional development activities for language teacher to
improve weaknesses as shown in their self-assess ETCF
- Self-study to adapt themselves to teaching in different contexts
