Answer the following questions on a separate sheet/page (approximately 500
words): a. What was your basis in selecting the teacher for the implementation of clinical supervision? b. Briefly describe what you felt were the highlights of the clinical supervision experience. c. What insights did you gain from doing the assignment? d. Based on the result of the post-conference analysis, what areas of your clinical supervisory practice do you need to further improve on?
Answer. I’ve learned that to be able to implement clinical supervision in my
respective school, I need be familiar with the what, who, when and how in clinical supervision. Likewise, in selecting the teacher for the implementation of clinical supervision, I observed teachers thoroughly when I made my daily walkthroughs around the campus, a regular heart to heart talk with them and made surprise visits on their classrooms. Also, the result of profiling of teachers based on their level of commitment and level of abstraction. These would give me an encouraging result to pursue and adopt the clinical system of supervision to teacher Chona and teacher Liezel. They both are unfocused workers. Teacher Chona is a grade three adviser while teacher Liezl is a kindergarten adviser. They both have different teaching- learning styles but teacher Chona was always got heard an angry voice and experiencing learner’s misbehavior during class hours while teachers Liezel had encountered tantrums and challenged her time management during group activities conducted. She had overtime in the discussion of her new lesson. And then, her pupils were unruly In doing the assignment, I felt privileged to know and learn the different types of supervision. Nevertheless, the insights I’ve gained about clinical supervision. Through careful analysis of the data gathered before, during and after the class. Wherein it should be collaborative, cooperative and engaging between the instructional leader and the teacher. The need to focus on the improvement of a teacher’s classroom instruction. During the conduct, the highlights of the experience were the long process of the five sequential steps namely the pre-observation stage, the observation stage, the analysis and strategy stage, the post-observation conference and the post-conference stage. Everything is being recorded from the start to finish. The preconference and the post conference. Step by step I study them all in detail in order to help my teacher in the teaching-learning process. Moreover, I tried my best to relay and explain to my teachers the data gathered from the observation and agreed on the needs for improvement of instruction for the benefit of the learners.
The insights gained during the assignment, teachers are to be open-minded to
the different pros and cons of classroom observation. It’s a long, long journey to travel. Just focus on the process, take the challenges as an opportunity to grow professionally, emotionally and spiritually in the workplace. Positive action together with positive thinking equals success. As an instructional leader, a mentor and as a human being, I’ve learned that if you cannot penetrate a person through his head, try his heart and you’ll see the difference. Based on the results on the post conference analysis, it made realized that I need to improve more on my instructional leadership skills especially so with my technology and communication skills. Both oral and in written communication and of course time management skills. I wish to grow more and inspire my teachers to be the best version of themselves.
