Change in technology and its effect on
employees
Introduction:
Technology is one of the most relevant components of
organization’s business environment which offers
countless opportunities for organizations to succeed in
their business environment. The presence of technology
in the workplace is becoming obvious and the fear that, it
could replace some jobs in the next decade or less
cannot be farfetched. Technological changes causes
business practices and processes to evolve, which makes
organizations to invest more in it
Nature of study:
No organization can escape from upgrading to new
technology as everything has been digitalized and it is
mandatory for an organization to use new technology in
order to gain competitive advantage in the global
market. But to get an optimum use of technology,
organization should know about its employees opinion
regarding the new technology. If the employee has any
adverse belief on technology it will reflect on his
behavior and performance. Employee behavior and his
performance is based on various factors like job
satisfaction, relationship with supervisors and co-
workers, performance appraisal, motivation, training,
stress level etc
Objectives of the study:
* To study the impact of technology on employee behaviour and their
performance
*To analyze the stress level caused by technology and how technology
influence employees inter personal relationship

Importance of study:
The study enriches the management with a range of
information pertaining to employee behavior, employee inter-
personal relationship and their performance with regards to
technology. This will enable the organization to make decision
in adopting a new technology and helps to provide training to
its employees in learning the technology. Only the trained
employees can perform their duties well which will helps the
organization to achieve its goal. This study will make the
organization to realize about the techno-stress which will be
useful for them to help their employees to overcome the stress.
Effect of technology on employee inter personal relationship
has been studied which will helps to strengthens their bond and
contribute more towards organizational growth by working in
groups as a team
Nature of study:
Human resource management is considered to be the
most valuable asset for any organization. It is the sum-
total of inherent abilities, acquired knowledge and skills
represented by the talents and aptitudes of the
employed persons who comprise of executives,
supervisors, middle level and low level employees. It may
be noted here that human resources should be utilized to
the maximum possible extent, in order to achieve
individual and organizational goals. It is thus the
employee’s performance which ultimately decides and
attainment of goals. Employee behavior and his
performance is based on various factors like job
satisfaction, relationship with supervisors and co-
workers, performance appraisal, motivation, training,
stress level etc.
If a work has to be done within a given period of time then it is
more advisable to work in groups as teams. For this, employee
should have a good relationship with his co-workers which will
enhance the quality of the work. Employee performance will
also increase if he has a positive relationship with his co-
workers. If the employees work together and they have a good
inter personal relationship with their co-workers, they can
achieve their tasks much faster. If there is a negative
relationship it will spoil the whole organization. The
organization has to help its employees in maintaining a good
inter personal relationship with their coworkers as it is most
essential and valuable for its success.
Advantages of Technology:
1. The work is done within no time:
The technology helps in doing work with the pace unimaginable.
Provided the technology must be used in a positive manner. This is
because after all, it is technically not the human brain. So it can stop
working at any time. The work by the computers is done very soon
which is an advantage to the employees.
2. Increases efficiency of work:
The work becomes efficient with the use of technology. The
technologies like the computers, the software’s installed in it are like
the god to man. The software like Adobe Scanner,
Photoshop, Sketchup software, and many other editing software do
wonders to produce the final product. So, the efficiency of the work
increases with the use of the technology
3. The work is done in coordination:
Due to the technology, it has become possible to connect one
department with other. It is just the Wi-Fi services which help in
increased connectivity. Earlier it was not possible, but now everything
one can think is possible.
The manufacturing department can contact the advertising,
production, planning department with just a single click of a
button. If the workplaces do not make use of the technology, their
work may come to a standstill. So, to prevent that one has to make use
of the technology.
4. The accuracy of work done within a certain time limit:
The work done by machines is accurate. Every product manufactured
is the same. Every entry in the computers goes right and even the
computers are able to check the grammar of its own. You just write
something, wrong sentences and spellings corrects itself
automatically.
Disadvantages of technology:
1. Very less employment is available: The people get fewer jobs just
because most of the work is done by the machines and the
robots. There is no need left for the human to
work, Computers work in the more efficient manner than
humans, which produce greater results at the end of the day.
2. Loss incurred when the Technology fails: The whole
manufacturing process halts, along with it the work of other
departments also comes to a standstill. This way the companies
has to go from the really tough situation.
3. Technology makes a person lazy: A person becomes lazy when he
or she knows that the work will be done by the technology
installed. He works in a leisure manner thinking that everything
will be fine and perfect. But this is not the case always. Effects of
technology person, after all, it does only what it is made of and
nothing more than that.
4. Lack of understanding: The understanding among individual is
affected. This is due to the lack of conversation. If the consumer
is far away from you then it is not possible to connect face to face.
One can only know through Zoom or any other technology. So, it
leads to less understanding.
Role of technology in Economic environment:
Introduction of technology in economic environment has helped in
development of the economy and also many firms.
Technological progress is essential to economic growth and
development, and the more advanced the technology available,
the more quickly the local and global economy can improve

Technology can contribute to the efficiency of a business's output rate,
allowing for larger quantities of products to be moved or of services to
be rendered.
*Expansion Industrialization: Change in technology has helped
in expansion of industrialization, many businesses have
increased output which lead to higher profits and development
of the organization and economy simultaneously

India to develop in international trade due to which it helps the
Indian economy to boost up international trade and job market
growth, allowing businesses to share information and conduct
trade in less time

Technology affects the way individuals communicate, learn, and
think. It helps society and determines how people interact with
each other on a daily basis. Technology plays an
important role in society today. It has positive and negative
effects on the world and it impacts
Positive effects of Technology:
1. Increased job opportunities, higher standards of learning
2. Interconnectedness of the world which has lead to globalization
3. Ease of Access to Information. The World Wide Web, abbreviated as

Negative effects of technology:
1. Technology has affected the employment manual and
unskilled labors
2. Too much use of Technology has made the employees lazy
3. Causes mental stress to employees

How can we save unskilled and manual labors from
unemployment:
Providing education and training camps for the labors,
Campaigns like Skill India can play a crucial role in closing
the chasm between the organized/formal and the
unorganized/informal through conscious effort. This
includes increasing productivity through knowledge and
skill, better income, and social security through
empowerment with right tools and technology. Let’s be
realistic, national campaigns alone can’t perform this
miracle. Close collaboration between the government, the
industry and training providers needed to devise need-
based schemes and execute them strategically.
