Changing View of Files and Folders


Windows allows you to view your files and folders in different ways. Following are the eight
views provided
by Windows 7.
Extra Large Icons () Small Icons () Tiles (B)
LargeIcons () List (B8) Content (E)
Medium Icons () Details (E)

To change the size and appearance (view) of your files and folders,
click the down arrow next to the View button (B-) on the toolbar Extra Large Icons
andselect the desired option from the drop-down menu. Large lcons
The Extra Large Icons view displays the files and folders as extra Medium Icons
largesizeicons. It is useful to change to this view when working
with pictures and video files. Small Icons
TheLarge Icons view displays the files and folders as large size

TheListview displays a list of files and folders preceded by small icons. It is useful to
change to this view when there are too many files in your drive or folder and you want to
scan the list for a specific file name

The Details view displays detailed information of files and folders, including their name,
type, size and the date they were last modified.

CREATING SHORTCUTS ON THE DESKTOP
You can create shortcuts to a file/folder or a program that you use most often and place them
on the desktop. This enables you to access those file(s)/folder(s) quickly without navigating to
their actual location.
To create a shortcut to a file/folder, follow these steps.
1. Right-click on the file/folder to which you wish
to create a shortcut on the desktop. A
shortcut menu appears.
2. Point to Send to option and then select Desktop (create shortcut) option from the submenu
that appears.
A shortcut for the selected file/folder appears on the desktop. Double-click on the shortcut icon
on the desktop to open the file/folder it links to.
