Module 7 8 9 Position Time Graph

1. The document contains information about position-time graphs and analyzing motion based on these graphs. It includes 5 activities with true/false questions, graph analysis, and data plotting. 2. The activities guide students to identify constant and changing speed based on position-time graphs, and describe motion such as slowing down, speeding up, or stationary based on the graph. 3. The post-tests at the end evaluate students' understanding of concepts like constant speed, changing speed, and using position-time graphs to describe an object's motion.

Module 7-8-9 – Position-Time-Graph

Activity 1: True or False

Directions: Read and analyze the sentences. Draw a SMILING FACE if the statement is
true and a SAD FACE if it is false. (10points)
_______1. If an object is not moving, it’s speed is zero.
_______2. If the velocity is constant, then the slope is constant.
_______3. Title is not important in creating a table and a graph.
_______4. An object with a constant speed has a constant velocity.
_______5. In a position-time graph, time data is assigned to X-axis.
_______6. Position-Time graph can describe the acceleration of a moving
body.
_______7. When the p-t graph shows a straight horizontal line, the object is
moving.
_______8. If the p-t graph shows a larger slope it indicates that the object is
moving faster than the other.
_______9. When an object is moving in a constant positive speed, its graph
will show a straight diagonal line.
_______10. If the slope of the graph is positive, the object is moving upwards
and to the right.

Activity 2: Describe the Motion

Objective: Describe motion using position-time graph.
Directions: Read each sentence and identify what graph represents motion. Write the
letter of your answer before the number. (5points)

A B C D E

_______1. A car is moving backwards at a constant speed of 2m/s.

_______2. Your friend is at gate 2. He is standing for an hour waiting for you.
_______3. A man rides a bicycle moving with a constant negative velocity of 5 m/s.
_______4. A vehicle that caused the accident is moving slow with a constant
positive velocity and then suddenly stopped.
_______5. A sports car showed a constant fast speed of 100km/h but suddenly
stopped when it hit the barrier. The driver is severely hurt.
Activity 3: It’s Time to Plot the Graph
Directions: Analyze the diagram of a man riding a bicycle. Complete the data on the
table. Plot the data in a graph with complete labels for x and y axes. (10 points)

Graph 4: Position-Time graph of the man riding a bicycle

Activity 4 (10points)
A. Directions: Analyze each graph and encircle the graph the shows changing
speed.

B. Directions: Analyze the graph to answer the questions.

1. Which line shows a slowing

down motion? (refer to its color)
_____________________________
2. What color shows a stationary
motion? ______________________

3. Which line manifests a

constant fast speed?
____________________

4. Which line shows a changing

speed that’s getting faster?
______________________

Activity 5: It’s Time to Plot the Graph

Directions: Analyze the diagram of a man running. Complete the data on the table. Plot
the data in a graph with complete labels for x and y axes.
