The Hotel Nacional was the flagship cocktail of Havana’s famous hotel of
the same name. The hotel attracted the likes of Ava Gardner and Nat King
Cole as regular guests in its heyday as well as being a highly sought after
destination for some of America’s top bartenders, having opened during the
height of prohibition.

The El Presidente has taken many forms and guises since it first appeared in
the early 1900s and continues to have ingredients added and taken away on
menus around the world. We have stuck with the advice of drinks historian
David Wondrich, bumping up the rum and bringing down the vermouth from
the original recipe as well as sticking with the regional vermouth style of
Chambery, bringing in depth, mouthfeel and lifting the drink to where it
deserves to be.

same name in Chicago. Known for a perfect blend of fun and seriously good
drinks, Lost Lake became a must visit for any rum enthusiast in the city.
The bar tried to survive after being battered by the pandemic but
unfortunately had to close its doors for good in January ‘22.
