A Story for the Ladies

When I first entered the workplace, I was very optimistic and hopeful about the future. I
quickly realized to lead effectively in the workplace required me to become a better
version of myself. I had to listen more and observe actions and behaviors. I had to learn to
read the rules of the work environment. I had to heighten my sense of awareness and
reflect more. Over the years, I strengthen my emotional intelligence muscles.

Reading people and understanding situations helped me develop a sense of awareness.

When in positions where I had to make quick decisions, use judgment, critical thinking,
analysis, and logic on behalf of my organization having a stable emotional core was
crucial to my decision-making process. When in leadership people's expectations of you
are changed. When in a position of authority you must represent the post well and do
what is right for others. ~Karissa Thomas
