to know the 4-digit PIN code for each ATM/debit card and credit card you intend to use on vacation. Please also
verify that the PIN code will be valid for use in the countries you will be visiting and inform your bank of your
travel plans so you are able to use your cards abroad.

required. Failure to attend could result in your removal from the ship. The cost of your cruise will not be refunded and

Salzburg--birthplace of Mozart and setting for "The Sound of Music", but so much more. Nestled between the Alps and the rolling waters of the

the lively Getreidegasse, the Old Town's atmospheric shopping street; and Salzburg Cathedral, where Mozart was baptized. Along the way, visit
the chapel where the world's most beloved Christmas carol was performed for the first time, enjoy a tasting of Austrian pre-Christmas delicacies,
and learn about Austria's most beloved Christmas customs and traditions.

Passau, the City of Three Rivers Included Choice

Discover the heart of Passau, the fascinating "City of Three Rivers" on this illuminating guided walking tour through the historic district. Situated
at the confluence of the Inn, Ilz, and Danube Rivers, the city was at one time an ancient Roman colony, and has long been a center for trade--
particularly for Bohemian salt. Your expert guide will introduce you to St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its three onion-domed towers and 17,774-pipe
organ, as well as other Old Town highlights such as the Altes Rathaus (Town Hall); Veste Oberhaus, the prince-bishops' 13th-century fortress that

The ancient medieval city of Regensburg is a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site with over 1,200 historical buildings spanning a period of
almost 2,000 years! As you stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets during the guided city walk, you will feel like entering the Middle Ages
where wealthy noblemen built touring residences in the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries. Discover the charming Old Town, where the Rathaus
(city hall) stands, which played host to the Reichstag of the Holy Roman Empire. From here Charlemagne passed laws, directed wars and
administered the vast Empire. Regensburg has a strong religious history and was an important center for the spreading of the Protestant faith
in the 16th century. Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict the XVI, taught at the University of Regensburg when he was younger, and the university
has a professorship named for him

Trials. Wander among the most massive Third Reich buildings on the planet, see where Hitler inspected goose-stepping SS troops, and where
Nazi leaders performed cult rituals before the saluting masses. You'll come face to face with the important historic sites, including the Great
Street, central axis of the rally grounds and planned as a Wehrmacht (army) parade route; the Luitpold Arena and Zeppelin Field deployment
areas; the half-finished Nazi Party Congress Hall, inspired by the Colosseum in Rome and intended for party meetings.

just how remarkable Nuremberg is! Begin with a visit of the lovely castle grounds surrounding Kaiserburg, one of Europe's most formidable
medieval fortresses. Along the way, your expert guide will divulge fascinating details about the city's rich and turbulent history, from its days as
the center of the Holy Roman Empire to its emotionally charged Nuremberg Trials. Following a panoramic drive, arrive at the bustling Hauptplatz

Back to Table of Contents Page 15

(market square), where free time allows you to explore the enchanting Old Town, cradle of the German Renaissance. Admire the charming

Preparing for Your Cruise

Back to Table of Contents Page 16

AvalonGO App
The AvalonGO App available for your mobile device keeps you informed and on course before and during the cruise.
Find schedules, transfer details, daily itineraries, GPS, and dining and entertainment options for free time in each
destination.

Baggage
Porterage for one suitcase is included on your cruise. This single bag should have dimensions not exceeding 30 x
21 x 11 in. (76 x 53 x 28 cm.), and weight not exceeding 50 lbs. (22 kg.) or less if your air carrier has stricter weight/
dimension limitations (you may be required to remove articles and put them in another bag if weight or size limits
are exceeded). We recommend you consult your air carrier as size and weight limitations for both checked in and
carry on luggage vary from airline to airline and even according to destination, and are becoming more restrictive.
We are not responsible for additional fees imposed by air carriers. Should your luggage be delayed, please note that
it is the responsibility of the airline to ensure that it is delivered to you en route. Claims for reimbursement for delayed
luggage should be addressed to the airline company.

Bring Your Water Bottle

We can’t keep it bottled up, we’re going green! Join us in our efforts to reduce waste from single-use plastics by
packing your favorite water bottle before your cruise. By packing a reusable water bottle, you’re helping to preserve
the places we visit to be enjoyed by future generations! Onboard you’ll find water filling stations that include various
options – from sparkling and still to vitamin-infused water choices.

Dress Requirements/Recommendations/Packing
Our goal is to make you feel at home on your Avalon cruise.  That’s why the dress code on board is casual and
comfortable.

Formality is not our style, and you won’t be required to pack dresses or sport coats for your Avalon cruise. Some guests
do prefer to dress up for occasions such as the Cocktail and Farewell Dinner in Europe. You’re welcome to wear what
suits you best.

We also like to keep things comfortable for all guests, so we kindly request that shorts not be worn in the Dining Room
or Panorama Lounge in the evenings, and that bathing suits are worn only on the Sky Deck.

Some optional excursions, especially those to evening events, may have dress code requirements. Excursion
descriptions include any details you’ll need to be prepared.

With these small suggestions, your style is fine with us, and your comfort is always our priority.

Traveling light is recommended. Sportswear is fine during the day (there may be restriction on shorts and bare
shoulders for some religious sites). Remember exercise/swimwear if you intend to use the ship’s leisure facilities. For
the excursions, don’t forget to pack one pair of comfortable walking shoes, heavy socks, warm clothing, a raincoat
and gloves (for coldest months). Remember insect repellent, sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. For included and
optional excursions featuring a walking tour or Active Discovery element such as biking or hiking, please be sure to
wear appropriate clothing and shoes.

Bring three smart casual outfits for evening. You may also wish to pack a dressier outfit to wear at the Welcome
Cocktail and Farewell Dinner or if you are planning an evening at the theatre.

Passports, Visas & Documents

A valid passport is required for international travel. A majority of countries insist that passports be valid for at least a six
month time period, so please check yours is valid for at least six months beyond the conclusion of your trip. It is the
responsibility of the traveler to secure any required visas before leaving home. Denial of entry or continuance of the
itinerary could be compromised if correct identification or entry requirements are not adhered to. Check your itinerary
carefully and ask your local consulates for advice, as visa conditions are subject to change. If your nationality (passport)
differs from the country in which you reside, please take time to check carefully with your local consulates concerning
visa and passport requirements for your travels.

As your passport will be kept on board the ship throughout your cruise for transit formality reasons, we recommend
you carry a photocopy of your passport/visas on you at all times.

Travelers Who Need Special Assistance
We will make reasonable attempts to accommodate the special needs of disabled travelers, but are not responsible in
the event we are unable to do so, nor are we responsible for any denial of services by carriers, hotels, restaurants, or
other independent suppliers. Any special needs should have been advised at time of booking, with the special needs
form supplied by the Avalon selling office filled in and returned at time of deposit. Failure to disclose relevant information
may result in denial of boarding, since facilities for disabled individuals are limited.

Most transportation services, including the motorcoach, are not equipped with wheelchair ramps. We regret that we
cannot provide individual assistance to a vacation participant for walking, dining, getting on and off motorcoaches and
other vehicles, or other personal needs. A qualified and physically able companion must accompany travelers who
need such assistance, and must assume total responsibility for the disabled participant’s well-being. Not all river cruise
ships have elevators and on many that do, the elevator does not reach the Sky Deck. Stateroom doors and restrooms
are not wide enough to allow access by standard wheelchairs, and bathrooms and other doorways may be fitted with
coamings. For safety reasons, passengers in wheelchairs cannot be carried on ramps in ports where the ship is at
anchor. Motorized scooters are not allowed on board.

Your Arrival

Transportation/Arrival Instructions
If you have an included arrival airport transfer, the Avalon Waterways Host will greet you at the airport. Look for the
Avalon Waterways sign. IMPORTANT: Please carefully study the Airport Transfer Information/Confirmation page in this
booklet. Be wary of any person approaching you offering unofficial taxi services. If you do not have an airport transfer
included and you need transportation, make your way to the regular taxi line outside the air terminal; choose only those
vehicles with a meter, and a taxi sign on the roof. We recommend you pre-negotiate the rate.

Hotel Check-in & Check-out (for cruise vacations that include hotel stays)
If your flight arrives in the morning to the city where your vacation starts, you may arrive at your hotel before check-
in time. Check-in and check-out times vary from hotel to hotel. If this is the case you can typically store your luggage
with the hotel and use this time to explore the neighborhood, maybe shop or sightsee. You can also relax in the hotel
lobby until your room is available.

Upon arrival at your destination, please stop by your hotel to see if your Cruise Director has posted information in the
lobby. Should you have any problems, reception staff usually can assist you in contacting your Cruise Director.

Before departing each hotel, remember to check safety boxes, wardrobes, tables, and drawers for any items you might
have forgotten; settle any incidental expenses (minibar, restaurant bills, etc.) with the hotel reception; and return your
room key.

Normal check-out times vary but are usually between 9 am and Noon; if you have a late-afternoon or evening flight,
most hotels have a luggage room where you can store your luggage until you depart for the airport.

Life on Board

DINING
Cuisine
All meals on board are prepared by European chefs and consist of European-style food that has been adjusted to suit
the tastes of international passengers. A full breakfast buffet is available daily with a made-to-order egg station. Lunch
generally offers salads and sandwiches, hot entree, and dessert. Alternatively, a light lunch option is also available.
Afternoon tea and coffee with cake is served daily. Dinner is a multi-course meal with a selection of entrees. Local
specialties are served, where appropriate.
Beverages
Coffee, tea, and iced tea are available free of charge throughout the day from the self-service coffee stations. Wine,
beer, and soft drinks are included with lunch and dinner. The bar in the main lounge is open daily and offers a wide
variety of cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer for purchase. A full price list is available and payment is via your shipboard
account. Should you wish to bring your own wine on board and drink it in the public areas of the ship, the maitre
d’hotel or bartender will be happy to serve it to you—a corkage fee will be charged.
Dietary Requests
If you have special dietary requests, please advise your Travel Agent or Avalon Waterways at time of booking. Upon
check in on the ship our Chef and Maitre D will be available to discuss your special dietary requests. Please note

Back to Table of Contents Page 18

that facilities to accommodate special dietary requests are limited and while the chefs will try to accommodate
requests, no guarantees can be made.
Dining Room Seating
Meals are served in the dining room in a single sitting. There is open seating so you may sit at different tables for
each meal if you wish to meet fellow passengers. In the interest of fairness to all passengers, we cannot make table
reservations. All meals on board the ship are included.
Daily Program & Sightseeing
Local sightseeing is included as per your itinerary description. In each instance this has been arranged in such a way as
to show you the most important sights of each destination with the amount of free time available, dependent on the
cruise schedule. Participation in the included sightseeing tours is not obligatory. It is, however, your responsibility to be
back on board in time for departure of the ship. Passengers will always be clearly informed of the departure time.

Adventure Host
An experienced, English speaking Adventure Host accompanies every departure. The Adventure Host is available as
your guide for fitness activities and active excursions.

Fitness Center
The Fitness Center is outfitted with exercise equipment and is freely available to all passengers. Inquire at Reception
about hours of operation. Use of the equipment is at the sole risk of the user. There is no attendant on duty and, without
limitation; Avalon Waterways and its affiliates are not responsible for any accident or injury sustained during the use
of any exercise equipment.

Whirlpool
All vessels are equipped with a whirlpool. Inquire at Reception about hours of operation. There is no attendant on
duty and, without limitation; Avalon Waterways and its affiliates are not responsible for any accident or injury sustained
during the use of the pool.

Laundry
Laundry services are available on board for a fee. Price lists will be available in your stateroom. Please note that clothes
cannot be dry cleaned on board. For safety reasons, we ask that you do not iron clothing in your stateroom. For a small
fee, the onboard laundry service is available to iron clothing.

Cruise Director
An experienced, English-speaking Cruise Director accompanies every departure. The Cruise Director is available to
ensure your comfort, answer questions, organize shore and optional excursions, and help make your vacation an
enjoyable and memorable event.

E-mail & Internet

Internet service is available on board. The service works via satellite and is complimentary. Internet cafes can be found
in many towns along the way in Western Europe and charges are generally very reasonable.

Elevators
All European vessels are fitted with an elevator. The elevator reaches all stateroom decks as well as the dining room
and lounge, but does not go up to the Sky Deck.

Medical Services
Should you fall ill, please contact your ship’s reception at once. Due to the proximity to land, medical services can be
called from shore when necessary.

Shipboard Account
The official currency on board our European vessels is the Euro. In order to make your life easier, we use a credit system
and charge everything you purchase (drinks, items from the gift shop, telephone, etc.) to your shipboard account. A
day before the end of the cruise, you will receive a bill showing all charges. This bill can be settled in cash (Euro), or by
credit card. American Express, MasterCard, and Visa are accepted. US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Australian Dollars and
British Pounds are also accepted as payment and are exchanged at the current bank rate — we regret that we cannot
accept any other currencies or personal checks/traveler’s checks.

Tipping
Tipping on cruise vacations is a general practice and while the amount of these gratuities will depend upon your degree
of satisfaction for services received, many of our clients have asked us for general tipping guidelines. For a good job, we
recommend 3 euro per passenger per day for the Cruise Director and 12 euro per passenger per day for the crew—this
Back to Table of Contents Page 19
will be pooled and distributed fairly among those who have been of service to you (including those of the personnel
who work only behind the scenes and whose service is equally indispensable to your enjoyment of the cruise).

It is possible to pre-purchase the gratuities for cruise director and crew. Envelopes specifically for this purpose will be
left in your stateroom on the day prior to disembarkation, and a designated box in which to deposit the envelopes will
be set up at the Reception when you leave the ship. When gratuities to Cruise Director and crew have been included
in the cost of the cruise, or when guests have opted to pre-pay the gratuities to Cruise Director and crew, a “gratuities
voucher” will have been included within your travel documents. Gratuities to local guides and drivers have been included
in the price of the cruise.

Official Language
The official language on board is English. All announcements and lectures will be presented in English.

Smoking
There is a strict non-smoking policy in the interior of all our ships operating on European rivers. Smoking is permitted on
the outside decks where ashtrays are provided. When smoking on deck, it is imperative never to throw cigarette ends
overboard. These could be carried by the breeze into an open window on a lower deck. For the safety and comfort of
all on board, your cooperation in observing the smoking policy is greatly appreciated.

Pets/Animals
We regret that no animals or pets are allowed on board.

Shared Docking Locations

Due to the popularity of river cruising and limited docking positions in the towns and villages along the waterways of
Europe, all river ship companies may sometimes have to share docking spots resulting in double docking. Docking
places are assigned to river cruise companies by the local authorities in the same way that airport authorities assign
airport docking to airlines. River cruise companies cannot choose where they wish to dock. The term double docking
is used when two to three river ships are side by side temporarily obstructing the view. We would like you to be aware
that this could happen on your cruise, but it should not take the enjoyment away from this excellent experience along
the rivers.

Ship Departure Schedule

The ship will sail promptly from each stop in accordance with its cruising schedule. The ship is unable to delay departure
for passengers who may not be on board. Unless you are on a ship’s excursion accompanied by the appointed guide,
it is your responsibility to be on board the ship prior to the ship’s departure. If you miss the ship’s departure, it is your
responsibility to make your own way to rejoin the ship at a subsequent stop. Without limitation, Avalon Waterways is
not liable for any costs or losses incurred if you miss the ship’s departure for any reason.

Entertainment
Television
Your ship is equipped with a satellite system and there is a television in each stateroom. There are several TV channels
with US and English programming as well as a shipboard informational channel and a channel with entertainment
videos. Due to the satellite system, there may be times when reception is poor or falls away altogether for short
periods.
Games
A selection of games is available for the use of our guests. Please return them once you have finished using them.
Library
Each vessel has a library or library corner. You may borrow books from the ship’s book collection, free of charge.
Please return any books that you have borrowed before the end of the cruise.
Stateroom
Comfort Collection Beds
Featuring four different choices of firmness for your mattress and a selection of pillows for a great night’s sleep.
Room Service
Avalon Waterways offers continental breakfast and drink service available to your stateroom. Dinner can also be
requested.
Hairdryers
Each stateroom is equipped with a hairdryer. Please contact Reception if there is no hairdryer in your room.
Electricity
Onboard electricity is 220 volt. Wall sockets take a European 2-prong plug. To use any small personal appliance such
as an electric razor, curling iron, or electric plug-in type alarm clock, you will need an adapter to plug into the wall
Back to Table of Contents Page 20
sockets for dual voltage appliances and a converter as well as an adapter for appliances that are not dual voltage.
Converters must be EU certified. Cheap, non-certified converters may damage your appliance and are a fire hazard
on the ship. Bathroom sockets are solely for razors (and/or battery chargers for digital cameras, mobile phones); the
use of hairdryers, curling irons, etc., is only permitted in the stateroom bedroom. Two USB ports in each stateroom.

MOTORCOACH SAFETY
ENTERING AND EXITING
Always use the handrails and check for traffic when walking to and from the coach.

REMAIN SEATED AND USE YOUR SEATBELT

Please remain seated, with seatbelt fastened (where fitted), at all times while the coach is in
motion. Failure to do so may result in injury if the driver has to change speed, brake, or stop
suddenly. If you must stand or move along the aisle, support yourself using the backs of
the seats or the overhead support rail. Standing, moving, or using the emergency restroom
while the coach is moving is at your own risk. Some countries have laws requiring seatbelt
usage.

HAND LUGGAGE
Hand luggage should be safely stored in the overhead luggage racks or under your
seat. Maximum dimensions are 12 x 11 x 6 in. (30 x 28 x 14 cm). Heavy items (bottles,
etc.) should not be stored overhead. Coach aisles must be kept clear of all luggage and
personal effects at all times. Wheeled luggage of any size must be stowed in the coach
luggage hold for safety reasons. Airline overhead bins are much larger than the overhead
bins on the coach. If your hand luggage does not fit overhead or under your seat, you may
be asked to store it in the luggage hold for safety.

EMERGENCY ITEMS
Every motorcoach is equipped with emergency hatches/exits, fire extinguishers, hammers,
first aid kits and seat belts, which, where fitted, should be used. Please take time to note the
location of all emergency exits and the hammers, which are usually located on the sides of
the coach near the windows. If you have any questions, please ask your Driver.

MOBILE DEVICES
In consideration of other passengers, please use cell phones and other mobile devices
discreetly.

*Wi-Fi connectivity, where available, is provided by an independent third party with separate terms and conditions of
usage and acceptance thereof.

STAYING ON BOARD
Passengers are not allowed to remain on the coach during comfort or other stops.

NO SMOKING, FOOD OR DRINK

As a courtesy to other passengers, we ask you to refrain from consuming food and drink
(except bottled water) on the coach. Please place all trash in the garbage cans that are
provided. Smoking and the consumption of alcohol are prohibited on the coach.

Back to Table of Contents Page 25

VALUABLES
Do not leave valuables or personal items on the coach at any time. They are your
responsibility.

SAFETY PROCEDURES AND INFORMATION

While on your cruise, your well-being, health and safety on board deserve our highest attention.

As part of our safety regulations, we will conduct a mandatory safety exercise on board your vessel prior to the
Welcome Briefing, while the ship is still in port. Your participation in this exercise will be required. Failure to attend
could result in your removal from the ship. The cost of your cruise will not be refunded and any further expenses
accrued will be your responsibility.

After checking-in on board you will find more information about these required safety procedures in your stateroom
including what to expect during the safety exercise on embarkation day. Please take the time to study the safety
information carefully.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding with these safety exercises.

Safety Procedures: Important Information concerning your safety:

In case of emergency it might be necessary to leave the ship! The below instructions will be reviewed during your safety
exercise to ensure you are familiar with these safety procedures.

If you hear the general alarm, follow the instructions of the crew and proceed as fast as possible to the assembly point
as indicated by crew members.

ASSEMBLY POINTS

A) The MAIN LOUNGE in the front part of the ship

B) The SKY DECK on the top of the ship

C) LAND - 50 meters / 165 ft away when the vessel is docked

At the assembly points there will be crew members waiting for you with SIGNS showing the name of your deck.

Report at your deck assembly sign and identify yourself with name and stateroom number.

If you assemble on the SKY DECK or in the MAIN LOUNGE, you will be provided a life jacket to put on and wait for
further instructions.
