    pandemic is one of the
    greatest challenges our
    world has ever
    faced. Not only the health
    of every people and
    economic of every country
    are affected but also
    our educational system. In
    accordance to this,
    President Rodrigo “Roa”
    Duterte announced that
    there will be no face-to-
    face classes until a vaccine
    is available and ready-to-
    use. Due to these
    circumstances, online
    learning was imposed in
    all the schools and
    universities all over the
    Philippines, yet the
    number of online activities
    are drowning the
    students. Therefore,
    academic
    freeze should be imposed

    The coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic is one of the greatest challenges our world has ever faced. Not
    only the health of every people and economic of every country are affected but also our educational
    system. In accordance to this, President Rodrigo “Roa” Duterte announced that there will be no face-to-
    face classes until a vaccine is available and ready-to-use. Due to these circumstances, online learning was
    imposed in all the schools and universities all over the Philippines, yet the number of online activities are
    drowning the students. Therefore, academic freeze should be imposed.
    First of all, not all students have gadgets and internet connection that can help them survive online
    learning. Most families here in the Philippines could not afford buying gadgets for every member of the
    family. Furthermore, online learning does not only need that but internet or data connection as well. These
    number one requirements for online learning take a great toll not only to the students but most especially
    to their parents, who are working hard just to support their children’s education. Because of this, many
    students chose to work than to go to school or university for this school year.
    First of all, not all students
    have gadgets and internet

    Most families here in the
    Philippines could not

    requirements for online

    Because of this, many
    students chose to work
    than to go to school or
    university for this school
    year. Another reason to impose academic freeze is that students and teachers are not prepared with the
    sudden change of the educational set up. Students and teachers are used to face-to-face learning with
    physical interaction and communication. Due to Covid-19, the sudden change from physical learning to
    virtual learning shook not only the educators and leaners but also the department handling
    education. The module, to be used by students who would not be able to attend online learning but still
    eager to learn, needs to be accomplished before the start of the school year. The sudden change showed
    that everyone is not ready for this change in educational set up.
    Finally, academic freeze can help every individual focused on their well-being be it physically,
    mentally, emotionally, and spiritually during this pandemic crisis. Covid-19 affects not only the physical
    stability of an individual but most especially his or her mental health. Feeling afraid of going outside and
    catching this virus, creates anxiety and stress to many people especially the young and old ones. Together
    with this, students need to answer several activities for every subject that they have and teachers need to
    read and check every student’s answer. This set up shows the difficulty that bout students and
    teachers are experiencing in this new educational set up during Covid-19 pandemic.
    In conclusion, academic freeze can help every individual focus on their healing and rehabilitation
    holistically. Pushing education amidst this crisis also pushes the limiters that every individual has in
    handling stress and anxiety. In addition, not all students have gadgets for online learning, both teachers and
    students were not ready, and their stress and anxiety adds up due to the number of responsibilities needed
    to be done. Education should be fun and enjoyable for both teachers and students and we cannot do that
    easily during this pandemic without feeling stressed.
