This document is a lab report for an electrical engineering course submitted by Sceva Aquila. The aims of the experiment were to create a Britannia joint, through-married joint, and tee married joint. The report discusses different types of electrical joints including scarfe joints, Britannia joints, bellhanger's joints, and tee twist joints. It focuses on explaining the Britannia through-married and tee joints. Electrical joints are designed to provide a low resistance pathway for electricity and offer mechanical stability to prevent disconnections. Properly made joints contribute to safety and reliability of electrical systems.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aim of the experiment was to make Britannia joint, through married joint and tee married joint.

INTRODUCTION

Behind this seamless flow of electrical energy lies a network of intricate connections known
as electrical joints. These joints serve as vital links, ensuring the efficient transmission of
electricity while maintaining safety and reliability. There are many types of joints such as
scarfe , joint ,Britannia, bellhanger’s joint, telegraph joint, tee twist, through-married, tee
joint etc

In this report we will fully explore the Britannia through-married and tee joints.

A joint also known as splice or connection refers to the point where two electrical conductors
are joined together to establish a continuous electrical path way to ensure easy and
continuous flow of current.

They are designed to provide a low resistance path way which minimizes energy losses,
voltage drops and heat generation therefore maximizing performance and effectiveness of
electrical systems.

They offer mechanical stability and support which is crucial in preventing accidental
disconnections therefore maintaining reliable electrical connections.

Properly made joints contribute to safety and reliability of electrical systems and reduce risks
of electrical hazards such as electrical shock or.

THEORY
Joint-the connection of two lengths of conductors by a method
which ensures a continuous path for the unimpeded flow of electric
current.
The following are the IEE regulations regarding conductor joints:
All joints must be mechanically sound meaning pulling on
unfinished joints will not disturb or damage the joint. All joints must
be mechanically sound even before soldering.
Al joints should be electrically sound meaning the resistance of the
jointed conductor should not be greater than that of the unjointed
length of the similar conductor.
All installed joints must be easily/readily accessible located usuallyin
the box of inspection type and the box itself must be easily
accessible.
If a joint must be made between a flexible cord and /or flexible cable
an insulated mechanical connector should be used.
JOINT METHODS
1.BRITANNIA JOINT
This is a type of joint used for bare overhead wires where great
tensile strength is required .The two are tinned and then each have a
short shoulder bent in them ,and are then bound together with
tinned wire the whole is soldered .
