Average Assessment: 2.67
Academic Performance = ((Mean of 1 st Year Grade Point Average of all successful Students on a 10 point scale) or (Mean of the percentage of marks in First Year of
all successful students/10)) x (number of successful students/number of students appeared in the examination)
Successful students are those who are permitted to proceed to the second year.
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN FIRST YEAR
8.4.1. Describe the assessment processes used to gather the data upon which the evaluation of Course Outcomes of first year is done (5)
(Examples of data collection processes may include, but are not limited to, specific exam questions, laboratory tests, internally developed assessment exams,
oral exams assignments, presentations, tutorial sheets etc.)
The institute has a calendar of events which defines the theory assessment and lab assessment. Based on the well-defined process internal
evaluation is done. External evaluation is based on University exams. The internal evaluation helps in evaluating the course outcomes. Lab
assessment has a well-defined rubric. The first-year academics also support soft skills training, guest lecturers/ seminars and also co-curricular
and extra-curricular activities.
The course delivery by the course instructor is based on the lesson plan and timetable.
The students are required to attend all the sessions of both theory and lab as per the department timetable and calendar of events.
The students are assessed based on two levels: Internal assessment and external assessment.
The internal assessment for theory is through internal test conducted based on the Calendar of Events, by the controller of examination &
department coordinators.
The internal marks are based on the performance of students and it is assessed for 50 Marks for each assessment & three tests are
conducted and scaled down to 30. 20 marks is awarded through indirect assessment.
The slow learners are identified in each subject, additional inputs are provided to such students & performance improvement test is
conducted based on the requirement.
The question papers are set based on the CO/PO and as per IQAC regulations.
Performance of students in labs are assessed through continuous evaluation for each experiment/program. The assessment is based on the
rubrics defined, which comprises of continuous evaluation and internal test
External:
The assessment for Theory is based on the University schedule with question papers and valuation as per University norms.
The assessment for lab is as per the allotment from University comprising of external and internal examiners appointed by the affiliated
university.
Internal assessment is through three tests conducted as per defined test process.
The CBCS 18-scheme also supports assessment based on activity like assignment, quiz, seminar etc.,
The marks allotted for the activity-based assessment is 10.
8.4.2. Record the attainment of Course Outcomes of all first-year courses (5)
Program shall have set attainment levels for all first-year courses.
(The attainment levels shall be set considering average performance levels in the university examination or any higher value set as target for the assessment
years. Attainment level is to be measured in terms of student performance in inter-l assessments with respect the COs of a subject plus the performance in
the University examination)

8.5.1. Indicate results of evaluation of each relevant PO and/or PSO, if applicable (15)
(Describe the assessment processes that demonstrate the degree to which the Program Outcomes are attained through first year courses and document the
attainment levels. Also include information on assessment processes used to gather the data upon which the evaluation of each Program Outcome is based
indicating the frequency with which these processes are carried out)
