a. What is the purpose of RAM? Ram provides short term memory for the CPU so that the computer can operate with better

performance.

b. What is the difference between RAM and the Hard Drive? Ram is for computer apps, programs and other data. When

your computer is turned off there is nothing in the ram, when you open an app it goes to RAM, they call it volital memory. A

hard drive stores the apps them selves for long term storage, as well as user files and user imputed data.
